looking for one of these, got a hard drive but no kit.
call microsoft
say you bought a new hdd or 360 whatever
say you need a kit
theyll try and charge like $13
bitch till they give it to you for free since you already paid for the hdd
^^^^ This
I did that, spent 20min on the phone and got it free![]()
transfer kits arent free from MS no matter what you do and they cost 40 dollars now, not 13ish as before
still need one, even if its only temporary
The Xbox 360 HDD is just a 2.5" SATA hard drive inside a casing. If possible, you could just take it apart, transfer files to your computer using Xplorer360, and then move files to new hard drive. However, this will void your warranty on both hard drives, and honestly I'm not sure if this will even work for the purpose you need. I've only done it to uncorrupt saves that were corrupted by my banned 360.

You can skip most of the steps regarding formatting, but these are instructions to transfer over files from one hdd to another, as Milks mentioned.
no offense, but no, I just want a transfer kit, Ill do it normally.
They seem to run pretty cheap on eBay. I just looked it up one was ending in 16 minutes for $5. There also seem to be various 3rd party transfer kits as well, if that doesn't matter to you.
I did chucklefuck, the problem with the bulk of the cheapies on ebay is they are knockoffs and not always the real things, dont come with software or can be unreliable.
personally Id rather put my money, even if its a few bucks more, into BG members hands not some random seller on ebay. did you think of that or were you just talking out your ass.
I've seen some reviews of the knock offs Sono, and they should work. If you really want to, check the feedback on the person you are purchasing from and see the prior orders. The person's feedback I saw showed people were having no problem with the transfer kits, but YMMV.
Otherwise you are likely to get stuck paying crazy prices for cheap components. This is one of the main reasons I bought an enclosure off ebay and flashed my own xbox HDD.
when I did the searching last time the only ones had a few negative reviews so I put the request up on BG assuming Id get some more positive hits. I bought a hard drive off somebody who was replacing their 120 with a 250, so the drive cost me next to nothing and was an official one.
I found one today for a decent price, official, with software, should have it in a few days, just would have rather put the money into a forum users hand instead of somebody else, thats why I post and buy from here, keep the community strong.
If I would have seen this earlier I would have let you borrow mine, haha.
