I've yet to see anybody put up a good argument as to why RMT is 'wrong' without spewing absurd assumptions that are founded in gut feelings instead of facts, so I've never viewed it as 'wrong' by any means. Economic theory actually supports RMT. Comparing RMT to drugs is probably the dumbest thing ever, fyi.
Account buyers know the risks (or at least they should know) when they make those purchases. However, recalling a sold still a despicable thing to do. In some cases these people are making away with thousands of dollars. It's easy to commit a faceless crime like this though, and thus it's somewhat common.
Stating that you're truly happy to see others lose out on potentially thousands of dollars simply because you don't agree with their stance in a video game sounds absurd.
When you sell an account on EGS or another site you aren't actually selling the account, you are just selling the login info and whatever codes/personal information you supply with it.
Most credit card companies have a 6 month chargeback limit, it can be extended up to 9 months and beyond in certain cases but if you recalled after 6 months, chances are you won't get chargebacked.
Being chargebacked on paypal doesn't automatically mean you have to pay them, you can challenge the decision and actually get human beings involved (the initial decision is made entirely through computer). If that doesn't work then you close your paypal account (thus ending the ToC you agreed to) and there is no legal way they can remove any money from an attached bank/credit card. After that paypal will either decide to write it off as a business loss or sell the debt to a collection agency. Most of the agencies they use do not follow proper legal procedure when aquiring the debts and try to use scare tactics to get you to pay, you can easily make it clear to them it will not be worth the hassle to try and collect.
As for the OP, any fucktard that is stupid enough to buy an account deserves to lose it. Human beings have been profitting off eachothers downfall for thousands of years so stop acting like we just punched and raped a pregnant mother infront of her disabled daughter whilst worshipping satan and smoking meth.
your friend should call SE/Customer Care and freeze the account, should be possible with all the info he got. This wont bring the money back but at least both are then on same terms and lost something. It's a dick move from the other person to recall his account after he sold it.
Also, this thread is going to end up with people getting tips on how to sell/recall their accounts. I'm looking for a word, it will come to me in a minute......
I wouldnt call it hero worship for some people, Id call it token black dude who invariably is killed like in the movies after he says "that is whack"
I'd like to sell/recall my BG account, it has a solid post count and lots of street cred.
gdi lol
You are using the baseless assumption that the FFXI economy is open. It is not. It operates under the rules set by SE. It is a closed economy.
The rules say that you do not do anything outside the game to affect what goes on inside the game. Third-party tools are one example, and engaging in RMTs is another.
Then all you've done is allow the rules of the game to decide what's right and wrong for you.
Most people are not smart enough to write down their account info(OO info) and make sure to registration codes. There is no way to protect yourself from recalls or PW resets this is why I don't buy accounts
if you want free accounts you know what to do
I think it's hilarious, but then again I'm kind of a dick.
That's why you insist on getting paid from Western Union if you're the seller. No chargebacks. Not that I'd ever touch this game again after making $2000 this past summer. I was glad to be rid of my account/gil. If I were to jack it, nothing could be reveresed. All my money came from WU. Have I thought about rejacking my account? Sure. Did I? Nah.. I'm better off without it. Let someone else ruin their life.
dramafinderftw on this forum stole my ffxi from me a few days ago lol. we've been very good friends for quite a long time and he's had my login information before but i guess someone offered him gil or some shit or just the fact that i had like 20 million in items was just too tempting for him.
i'd say this is probably the worst thing you could do to someone in regards to this game
I'm sure for the people buying the accounts money isn't really an issue, if they were so worried about getting dicked out of a grand they wouldn't be spending on a BRD mule or whatever the fuck. It's retard tax, if you're willing to put your money into a frivolous venture that leaves you wide open for a recall to boot you deserve to lose your money as much as someone who emailed their CC info to Nigeria.
@ Mojo
I don't know why a comparison to the drug market is a bad comparison, especially considering the market for low end recreational drugs like marijuana. What concepts don't you think apply?
