Well said, agree with all of that. AR tree reworking would def be a nice thing too.

I will admit that sub machine guns do really suck if you are trying to pick someone off from medium to long distance and even short distance they can take quite a few bullets to kill someone. Now where they do excel at is using a motion sensor, advanced stealth, jammer on Acquisition/Domination and hiding in the foilage in Sabotage on some maps or just hiding around corners. I think the shotgun is way better but there's no way to silence that and pretty sure it makes you an easy target with the range in which it can be detected.
I have used a LMG in about every FPS I have ever played and it will always remain my favorite gun because I am usually the guy playing medic or support in the back helping out my mates. I play Valor and will continue to do so and my setup for LMG is basically the First LMG new Mod 1 with faster firing rate, sight/grip, grenades, medical kit and heavy armor. My second setup is Last LMG, sight/grip, grenade, Medium Mark II armor. And this setup is usually nice because it has a lot of survivability. I used to depend on the motion sensor a lot in the past but that meant dropping armor to lowest/next lowest. I've seen myself improve a lot ever since I got rid of it.
I have yet to try Assault Rifles. I am a pretty good shot now but I have more freedom with a LMG to check sniper spots and take a bunker by myself due to the time it takes to reach a reload. LMGs seem to be mostly for the support/medic types, Sniper for loaners/strategic attacking, ARs are for teamwork definitely as you don't want to be caught by yourself alone with one UNLESS you use motion sensor/silencer. SMG wise, for ambushing and camping against attackers/defenders objectives.
Well that's my take on it anyways from almost 200+ hours of playing the game. I am about to go pick up White Knight Chronicles though, been hearing some good stuff about it. Even though it got a low score it reminds me of how people bashed Star Ocean: The 2nd Story back in the PS One days. That game went on to be a great seller and had one hell of a replay value. WKC seems similar.
I used to use a silenced SMG on my repair load out and it worked really well, but that was really the only time it was useful. Sneaking off on my own to fix some long forgotten piece of equipment. If you get the jump on someone with one of them, the fight's pretty much yours. But face to face it really falls short.
The problem with your theory on ARs however is that LMGs work just as well, if not better, while being with your team. The only real weakness with the LMG in the hands of a good player is the reload time, so in a group, that won't be as much of an issue. Then again, a good player will be good with his side arm as well, and hot damn that little pistol can easily put the hurt on people.
As for WKC, I started it myself recently so I'm not too experienced with it, but I can say this for certain. The story and single player content...it's terrible. Predictable, cliche RPG tripe with badly over-acted cutscene animations. The gameplay however, offline and online, is great. Very fun and active and allows you a lot of customization. That alone is reason enough to pick it up. It reminds me a lot of PSU to be honest, which had a lot of faults but a lot of highlights as well. But with free online play, WKC is definitely worth getting into.
I switched to LMG a little while ago to see what all the hype was about, and I've been doing pretty good with it. I did get in the habit of just spraying at someone though, so I'm sure there's far better use for it. I was using ARs for the longest time, but they do have a high amount of points to upgrade. I think after I get the 1000 kills medal I'll switch back.
The thing that bothers me with the assault tree (and I suppose sniper) is having to unlock the bi-pod. I don't think we should be forced to get either a new weapon or a second grip attachment to progress down the tree. I think switching to a sight would be a better choice, or some way to bi-pass it without messing up the balance if that's what they're going for.
I'd like to see the medic branch expanded seeing how just about everyone can res with at least half hp. Maybe another resuscitate that costs 5 points but gives them a buff or some kind. I just kinda hate having the rapid assault icon next to my name even though I have level 5 res and such xD
I wish they'd give less exp for half-assed resuscitations. Like, they need to lower it to 5. I hate getting revived by someone doing it just for points during a firefight only to get taken down right away.
http://blog.mag.comOver the last few weeks, we've been prepping some behind-the-scenes updates in an effort to maximize your shooting experience circa 2025. The result of our labor is the new and improved MAG version 1.05.
To get it, all you have to do is boot up the game as you normally would and let the automatic downloader do the rest.
Once the new patch is installed, you can expect to find a number of nifty technical fixes that should minimize your chances of getting the occasional lock-up, increase the likelihood of your team getting good leaders, and improve the realism of your weapons with various gun updates.
MAG v.1.05 will be available starting Monday, April 19 at 1am Pacific/ 4am Eastern/ 9am GMT. For the full list of changes look below and for the complete history of MAG fixes and patches.
Patch v1.05 - Available April 19, 2010 | 41MB (TPPS), 40MB (DLS)
Gameplay
- Improved the automatic Leadership selection criteria to make players with microphones more likely to be selected than those without them (note: this does not prevent players without microphones from being selected as leaders)
- Adjusted automatic Leadership selection criteria to include Leadership point total in preference formula.
Technical
- Repaired bug that prevented players who were incapacitated and then revived from throwing grenades until they reload.
- Fixed issue with the game lock-ups caused by "hanging" black screen following the conclusion of a gameplay round.
- Repaired crash that sometimes occurred after playing more than 15 consecutive rounds.
- Resolved issue with rare game crash that occurred during playback of intro video.
- Numerous localization changes for in-game text.
Weapons
- Adjusted iron sights to give player clearer view for the following weapons: AK-103, M4A1, PKP MG, Apex 100, RTK-74, Boudini 12 Gauge, and T-195.
- Improved accuracy on all iron sights and red dot sights.
- Increased upwards-recoil to all machine guns.
- Slightly increased accuracy for pistols, PDWs, and SMGs.
Well, I guess its too late to spam my way to 1000 LMG kills tonight lol. That's cool about the iron sights, but I guess if the red dots are getting more accuracy, I'd use them instead. I wonder how the accuracy would compare to the 4x scopes.
Also, now I have to have my headset on so I'm more likely to be a leaderI hate how hardly anyone talks or listens when I play.
Hopefully that updates restores a little bit of what the SMGs were. I never messed around with one before they got nerfed, and they sounded terrible afterward.
Awesome update, some well needed changes, especially the mic thing and accuracy increase to PDW's and SMG's.
Nice update, I really liked where they were going with this game. Just to many titles for me to get seriously involved so I traded it in.
Increased accuracy for pistols?
Hells yea.
I assume PDW is the machine pistol right? Also, the LMG recoil is pretty noticeable now, even with the foregrip. I'm not sure how it was before, but the bipod is still really accurate.
I also tried out the SMG for running around blowing stuff up. With a silencer, the accuracy wasn't too bad, but it still took most of a clip just firing to get someone (this is all SVER still).
Yes, the PDW is the machine pistol

The devs also say their next DLC will be the big one.
Fuck, they release sniper upgrades after I put mine down to play with ARs.![]()
Those sound like light sniper rifles, but that could be good. I never really cared for the first one, but I was getting owned by someone on Raven using it earlier.
Also, I'm not sure if anyone knows, but what happens to your clan when you vet? I'm hoping to get 60 this weekend and do it. Not that I ever see anyone in Clan BG on, but I still like being in the group.
If you vet on the same faction nothing happens, if you vet over to a different PMC you'll leave the clan. If you're the clan leader and you vet over to a different PMC then the leader will fall to one of the officers.
Updates look pretty good. I just hope the new light snipers can use power / variable scopes, don't care much about any damage or recoil bonuses on them, unless they added enough damage to kill someone in 2 hits instead of 3.
I do like how they add a ton of free add ons, but how is it worth their time ~_~? Makes me wonder how MW2 asks us to pay ~$15, when this game that sold so much less is giving shit away none stop... And keeps with the game, MW2 has been the same game outside the new maps, nothing changed but a few guns.
