I think since its multiplayer only, they focus more on making the experience better. Also they're not owned by Activision. DICE always had updates for Battlefield every once in a while, and those sometimes came with maps.

Activision demands money. All their games MSRP at $20 after, like, 2 months after they come out lol

While I'm lovin Zipper for givin it all up for free, so far it seems everything they've given us is already on the disc. It all depends on whether or not the "big" DLC will be free for me to actually say anything good or bad about their DLC content.

Actually, ya know what, screw whether it's on the disc or not. Zipper is still awesome for givin it all up for free because plenty of other companies would make you pay for unlocked content.

It could be they wanted to put it on but didn't have enough time to make it work the way they wanted. Its one thing for maps to be on there and unusable and guns/equipment that actually affect gameplay.

I would be willing to pay for DLC for this game though. I've spent a lot for DLC for games I don't play or stuff that was pretty lame, but I enjoy this game and more maps/weapons/armor/clothes will just make it better. Well, maybe not the clothes patterns, but they're kinda cool instead of everyone looking the same.

They need to add a ghillie suit for snipers.

New sniper rifles are nothing too special, but a nice upgrade from the tier 1. If you're not into the 3rd tier rifle and want to snipe from shorter ranges it's a great rifle. Having some fun with it on S.V.E.R., but most everyone is still using the LMG; really hoping to see some kind of update that encourages people to use the assault rifle and SMG more.

I like the new armor a lot though, makes for a lot less headaches trying to create load-outs with all the right explosives/electronics.

Hope Zipper continues to keep up with this game. There's a lot of room for improvements on an already great game.

I like the new sniper rifle on Raven at least. I thought it was just going to be a minor upgrade like the LMG one (at least on S.V.E.R.), but its decent enough for free. And I like the upgraded light armor, I hope they do it with heavy armor too.

I just went to sign on today and got the error 8002A231. I ended up calling a number I saw from someone's email to Sony and got a direct number lol.

Anyway, had to change my account name. Zipper mods = fags

A handful of tipsters recently sent in a link to a survey currently being distributed by Sony, which appears to test the waters regarding two updates considered for Zipper Interactive's big ol' shooter, MAG. The first article of interest in the survey is a reference to an "Interdiction" mode, in which 128 players from two factions would fight over three neutral objectives, removing the attacker/defender dynamic of the game's other main modes. The survey also inquires whether we'd purchase this content for $8.99 (or $12.99, depending on the participant's earlier answers).

On the very next page, the survey mentions an offer which would give MAG players an extra character slot (presumably opening up the option to belong to more than one faction at a time) for a fee of $.99 per month. If this subscription plan is actually being considered, we don't know how popular it would be. We couldn't imagine cheating on our beloved PMC. (S.V.E.R. Forever!)

Zipper community manager Jeremy Dunham has addressed these potential changes on the MAG forums, stating, "we haven't announced any DLC details whatsoever. Nothing is official unless it comes from us." While these details may not be "official," it's worth noting that the survey was distributed by an official Sony email address. Food for thought!

    What was your old name?

Also, apparently people have been receiving surveys in emails from PSN about what kind of content they enjoy, specifically focusing on shooters. If you answer the questions a certain way you'll eventually stumble across two very interesting ones.

One is asking if you'll pay either 12.99 or 8.99 (both numbers were found in different versions of the surveys) for a new MAG Game mode where two factions of 64 players each fought over control points on a map, no defenders, no attackers, and three new maps. Another question asked if people would be willing to pay .99 a month to gain an extra MAG character slot.

So far Zipper hasn't confirmed anything about the survey, but this is probably a good indication the big DLC map pack is around the corner. The only question is now how much exactly are we going to pay for it.

edit: GAH! Beaten by a minute =(

oh. AzzPirateBritt, yeah that's probably why your old account name got banned.

And yeah, I got the survey a few days ago. $12.99 for the Interdiction pack is a joke, $8.99 is more like it. Would rather them not charge though as it'll split up the userbase.

Yeah, it's just kinda fucked up because I had that as my ID for at least a year, but a little longer since I've had my PS3, but also I did the MAG beta and have been playing since launch, plus other online games without a problem.

What's fucked up now though, is that my account name is changed (anony_mos_1 if anyone wants to add me, since I lost all my friends) but my character on MAG is still AzzPirateBritt, so if one of their mods want to flex again I could potentially still get in trouble. Was kind of funny when I was on the phone with the guy and he said my name lol. It's not too big a deal for me cuz my name was an inside joke.

But, I probably would have paid for the DLC before this happened, but not now. I'll wait for a price drop, if anything, considering it could very well be on the disc right now.

Has anyone hear listened to Zipper's latest Podcast? I haven't had a chance to listen to it myself (I never did like podcasts) but some of the info coming from it seems pretty sweet and very promising. Some cliffnotes I picked up from other places:

    1) New weapons, not just reskins, but actual new weapons. Including a strong possibility for the G36 (google it) which would most likely be a Raven weapon.
    2) Some sort of improvements to the speed and handling of APCs, with a possible addition of new vehicles (probably in new map modes).
    3) Another potential LMG nerf is incoming, making it far less accurate unless you're kneeling or prone.
    4) somewhat related to the LMG nerf, instead of increasing the Credit equip costs on the LMGs, and over-weighting people's loadouts, instead they'll be lowering the equip costs of other weapons slightly. This makes it so LMGs cost more to equip, without them actually costing more to equip.
    5) (my personal favorite note)Base pistols will no longer cost an Credits to carry, giving everyone an extra 100c right off the bat. (and I do love the pistol)
    6) Bayonet attachments for ARs are a possibility in the future (the more AR accessories, the better...as long as they rework the Skill cost tree)
    7) Shotguns will be tweaked again somehow, as their spread is said to still be too random. Also, shotguns with more ammo have slower rof, meaning Raven's shotgun shoots the fastest because it carries less ammo in it's mag.
    8) New skills and gear will be added in time, most likely as DLC content.

Still no confirmation on the next big DLC pack or if it'll be paid for content or another free release, but still it's nice to know a lot of major changes are still in store. This is really the only FPS I ever liked playing, so it would suck if the community kept dying out. But I guess being a niche type of FPS with a fairly steep learning curve pushes a lot of people used to the more arcadey, forgiving FPS games away.

I hope its all part of a patch. I didn't really notice when I was killing people from a range, but when I started using the SMG and Shotgun, its annoying how many times I got killed by an LMG when I got the drop on him. The pistol thing is awesome 'cause I hardly use it, but I wonder if they'll lower the PDW cost.

Shotgun and APC thing is cool too, but not a priority if you ask me.

These updates are really exciting personally.

More guns will be nice; I bet we'll see an assault rifle pack soon then hopefully some new guns altogether.

Making vehicles funner to drive, not that they aren't already, will be interesting. Doing more than ramboing around running people over or finding the best rock to park behind might be nice.

LMG alterations sound so great. I started out using the LMG, but as I've progressed into loving the SMG/AR builds it just drives me up the wall that tards can run around with this thing and smoke you. Can't count the times I've shot someone in the back and had him turn around (all the while holding R1) and spray with a bullet into the head. I don't want to see it too nerfed, but I like the idea of restricting movement/effectiveness while moving. I just hope it doesn't cause a mass exodus of noobs that are needed to fill out the ranks of the opposing teams.

The lowered CC costs will be so delicious. I can't live without the motion sensor, but it restricts me so bad on the CC cost. Being able to use the AR, grenades, motion, med kit without some kind of sacrifice will be nice, though I have grown somewhat fond of the ARs iron sights.

It seems like they were joking a bit about bayonets and didn't really intend to add anything like that from what I heard, to the SMG or AR.

The shotgun upgrade is much needed. It is a deadly weapon in the right hands, but for most it's just too hard to use. It's so painful to run up and shotty someone in the face to eat 10 LMG rounds before you can get that second shot off cause the hit detection went funky. Though it sucks equally to charge round a corner into a 1-hit shotgun blast as I try to faceknife. Guess it depends which end you're on.

New skills/gear is pretty much win as well. Just hope they don't drag it out too long.

Part 2 of the patch and info on the next "big" DLC are soon to follow.

Personally, I'm a bit surprised there was no mention of any changes to the AR line, but they could be saving that bombshell for their next blog post.

They better fix the freezing issues that reappeared since patch 1.05 for me and many others. I can't play this game right now because it literally freezes every few minutes when I join a match. Not sure what the did in 1.05 to fuck it up, but if it isn't corrected in 1.06 I'm done with MAG, not waiting for 1.07 with a game I can't play, hoping that they'll fix it.

That is a lot of stuff updated. I'm pretty surprised at the pistol getting toned down from long range and up for short. I mean its supposed to be used for that, but its always fun hitting with a pistol far away.

And I really hope the LMGs are almost unusable while running. Although with the SMG + Shotgun close-range upgrade, it might not be so bad, but it still sucks to get killed by a noob using one.
