holy crap move control his hard on this. I mean, I'm sure theres a perfect sensitivity layout I could find for it (i fiddled with it for a short time). But until that happens, I'll stick with my DS3 for this game.

If I got the move from somewhere, I'd try it out. I'm not too into all that fancy motion controls, though I feel like aiming would be easier that way, just not everything else.

Is the patch downloading abysmally slow for everyone else? After 3 hours I only have 100mbs downloaded.

Imagine watching "pros" play counter strike and how super effing sensitive their mouse is.

Thats "standard"/"competetive" on MAG. Though I'm sure if you fiddle with the settings enough, you could make it the way you need it.

    (these are my opinions)

They can change all this stuff, but they can't fucking fix the sound getting fucked up during the game and not being able to fix it without quitting the game altogether.

I bet my name is still fucked up on my character too.

Picked up the game finally, the Greatest Hits pricing pretty much made me take the jump. Also grabbed a Navigation controller with it so I could try out the Move controls comfortably, which actually makes aiming with DualShock3 look fucking slow after you finetune the calibration to your tastes from what I've seen in the iWaggle blog, which the lucky fucker who runs that has his hands on a demo copy of Socom 4 which he also tried the Move controls out on.

Anyways, while I update the game (just updated to v2.01, currently receiving a half gig of game data), anyone got pointers for a beginner? Also, are those free-DLC included now that were on the store, or do I still have to add them to cart and install? I'm under the assumption it was stuff that used to be pre-order bonuses but made free for all a couple months later?

BGers still play this also? I'm trying to decide between rolling SVER or Raven.

Most of us started SVER, and others Raven, but I haven't seen too many people on(let alone myself). As far as the move controller goes, It's a little more difficult to me than playing with the DualShock 3, mostly because of the "mouse style aiming." So I think one tip is go train a bit on the highest controller settings, then the lowest, and see which you prefer.

I ended up going Raven. Already rocking the competitive sensitivity settings on the Move, enjoying them quite a lot. I don't see how a dualshock user can even compete once a Move user is fully acclimated to the controller, shit is crazy more precise once you get a good feeling for your current settings boundary box so you don't accidentally make the screen move when you're trying to aim.

Ended up dying a lot on my first round thanks to the other team sniping a lot, didn't get a single kill in, heh. Going to take some time before I figure out whats what since the game manual is useless, and the tutorial is fairly bare bones.

[EDIT] Christ almighty, this game is the definitive of 'learn as you go'. Two hours in, and still not exactly sure what's what, and how about to deal with things.

I'm assuming the idea is to head over to your squad leader when you spawn and go with the objective he/she hopefully marked. I'm trying to play a medic role, but it seems the first aid kit to heal others costs 800 points, and I'm at a measly 300 right now, hard to do shit with my gear at the moment.

I find it easier to get xp for healing and doing objectives at first. You'll want to save up for the medical kit to revive people (will need the appropriate skills too), but with the healing kit you should be able to heal other. Can't remember if you need a specific skill to do that or not though.

To get the most xp you'll want to go to the Frago objective, but if you have a Squad Leader who doesn't know what they're doing or not paying attention and leaving the Frago at the default, you'll just want to go for objectives the rest of the team is hopefully working together to do.

You learn and do better depending on your squad/leader. At some point, you will discover that some matches flow beautifully with a good squad (1/6 on the map) but with a bad squad, you will be respawning every second and not getting objectives, and you think YOU'RE doing something wrong.

I play every now and then still (Raven), but I've been turned off by the game with the 2.0 update. With the +15% damage to automatic weapons, and the massive shotgun and sniper buffs, it's a lot easier to die but you still have to upwards of 15s to respawn + spending another minute or so to run to objectives if your spawn gets pushed back. The lag only compounds the problem too, and it's extremely aggravating to die with 5s left on the team respawn yet you'll get the loading message and miss the spawn and instead have to wait 20s more.

Shotgun could really use a nerf. I just got oneshotted by one from 10 feet away. -.-

Got into a clan today at any rate with a friendly leader who has had no problem giving me tips and points. He also made me realize the game is not noob friendly at all once the majority of players have hit lvl30+, leaving those starting fresh dying again and again due to lack of skills and weapons that don't suck. Got my med pack finally, getting points via support now rather than relying on luck shooting someone.

Really enjoying the flow, feels like a PC game at times with the amount of shit that happens at once on the larger maps.

I don't understand how people can shoot others so far away with the shotgun. I can't kill anyone with it

God damn, the XP requirement shoots straight up as soon as you hit level 15.

Oh well, still enjoying the game a lot, seems to get a lot better once you waste your first 20 levels getting maxed resuscitation, movement/sprint, and health up. I don't understand why Zipper doesn't issue you with 10 skill points and some cash to start off with so you aren't absolutely useless on the battlefield for the first 8-10 hours of play.

Anyways, hope they do a DLC bundle when Escalation comes out. It's a bit much to ask for $10 for Interdiction still when barely anyone play it solely due to it being DLC, more-so when the new one comes out.

The learning curve is fairly steep and it does seem like even at only 15 it takes a while to level up, but once you get a feel for the game it's extremely easy to level up (which is compounded by the big directive bonuses and happy hour bonuses they added in). You can rake in 750+ exp per domination game, before bonuses, pretty comfortably once you start unlocking the good exp skills like the medic tree. Also, if you have a mic, just turn it on and apply for squad leader so you're more likely to be chosen as squad leader (and just mute your mic if you don't want to talk) and try to FRAGO high traffic areas where you can expect to raise a lot of people or get some repairs in.

Escalation out this Tuesday for $10, along with price drop of Interdiction to $5.

I'll definitely be nabbing the starter pack the link mentions, sounds too good to pass up, especially since I was hoping for a DLC bundle when Escalation came out.
(no way I'd pay full for Interdiction in its currently barely-played state)

Should jumpstart the community some, and hopefully they keep the XP bonus on Interdiction so I can grind faster, heh. Currently lvl43, probably going to respec when I hit 50'ish to put more focus into Close Combat/Spec Ops since I find myself dying a lot due to my slow knife, and lack of scanner jammer, which I'm very close to being able to purchase.

I'm not giving them any more money for extra content noone will be playing in 2 weeks, especially when they can't fix some basic things for the game.

Care to elaborate? Only been playing the game a month here, and the only real problems I've encountered so far was freezing problems (remedied slightly but the latest patch), shotguns being way too OP, and horrid lag in anything but Suppression/Sabotage modes which ends up me never being able to knife a guy after 6 attempts, and them turning around and killing me in one swipe. That and getting shot from around the corner after I moved for cover.

At any rate, Escalation pack is out along with the MAG Starter Kit bundle. Bundle seems fucked at the moment as it doesn't include the 6 avatars it advertises having, but I'm assuming that'll be fixed in a few hours.

Argh I need to rebuy this again sometime

    http://blog.us.playstation.com/2010/...arrives-today/

The PS3‘s massive, ever-changing global war just got bigger! Starting today our “Escalation Add-on Pack” introduces the exciting three-faction “Escalation” game mode that throws Raven, SVER and Valor into simultaneous battle on three brand new maps. As an added bonus, Escalation owners also get their hands on nine exclusive new weapons — including assault rifles, sniper rifles, and machine guns! The best part? All this can be yours for the low, low price of $9.99.

To commemorate the release of our new DLC, we’re also unleashing a variety of special offers to our existing and future fans. Here’s our list of deals:

    * Escalation Add-on Pack: $7.99 Through November 9 (until 11:59pm Pacific), anyone who purchased our previous DLC pack, Interdiction, prior to Midnight Pacific Time on October 28 gets 20% off the Escalation asking price!
    * Interdiction Add-on Pack: $4.99, reduced from its original price of $9.99; this is a permanent adjustment
    * MAG Starter Kit: $14.99 Valued at almost $30, it’s everything new MAG users would want: Both the Interdiction and Escalation Add-on packs, a 30-day trial for MAG character slots B and C, six official MAG PS3 avatars that sport Raven, SVER, and Valor characters and badges, and three dynamic PS3 themes (one for each PMC).
    * PlayStation Plus Members receive special bargains as well. Through December 14, “PS+” members can purchase Escalation at the discounted price of $7.99 and Interdiction at half price, for only $2.50!

But we’re not done yet. Gamers that play any of our add-on packs between November 2 and November 14 get additional XP bonuses. Specifically, anyone who plays Interdiction or Escalation within that timeframe earns a +200% bonus with every finished match. We’re also including an all-around +100% bonus for playing any MAG mode within the same time frame. In other words, it’s going to be a MAG XP frenzy!
