    I don't know if it's me, but Escalation really lacks information. For instance, half the time I cannot tell which PMC is the one with the privelage to hold D, which leads me to query the squad, and whether or not to try to hold down A/B/C points while we await the other PMC to rid of the one who is holding D. ;/

    Could really use a faction icon above D's graphic to show who has the rights for that phase.

    What's also annoying is when two factions are competing to get rid of D control (thanks to people trying to get the trophy) as it just staggers the process and allows the faction with the rights to D to just let their bar fill some if I'm seeing things right. Maps either end up being one faction owning the crap out of the other two, or it being a very close match, have yet to see anything like a three-way race before time runs out.

    Mode has potential with a large enough clan who is coordinating so you can focus which squad is assaulting/defending each location. Always helps to have D cleared out before the points are captured, but not if it spreads your platoon thin for capturing two points for yourself so you can actually claim D.


    On the upside, queue lines are miles faster than Interdiction because it's new, but also because you need all three factions, so none of that queue-line BS where you're racing one other faction to get enough people to pair up with the full group awaiting competition. I've only played 5 rounds of Interdiction so far, but I feel it'd benefit if it were adjusted for three factions to duke it out at once also. Just need to add in a fourth point to help spread people out rather than one faction always having the point they spawn closest to.

    I have issues where sometimes I can't get out of bunkers. It's like I'm stuck in respawn mode, but without the interface. Can't kill myself cuz it just sits there, even if the bunker's destroyed. My name got changed for my account, so my character name got fucked up and is a random string of characters. They were supposed to have fixed it in a patch but that never worked. Another thing is the sound will randomly cut out while playing and either be no sound, or very random noises. Kind of hard to describe. Also issues with the game randomly freezing still.

    All these issues are just for MAG, I can play anything else without having any issues whatsoever.

    I've had that respawn bug twice in about 50 hours of gameplay, one of them even on the latest patch, so that's definitely not fixed. Never had the sound cut out once though. Main beef is just the freezing issues overall for me. If the servers retained your match info, it wouldn't be such a problem. ;/

    Also still waiting to hear back from Sony about getting jipped on my MAG Starter Bundle. >.>

    [EDIT] Problem resolved ages ago. Just took them a fucking month before they had a proper thing set in place to help people with the bundle issue.

    256% XP bonus on Happy Hour + Queues startin' tomorrow and until the end of the month.


    Will be bumrushing my SVER character to 60 for the trophy, and possibly reactive my Valor guy for the same. Not been touching MAG lately after hitting the retarded 60->70 climb on my Raven character for the second time, and also been busy with other games. But god damn I can't pass up that kind of XP bonus.

    256% Happy Hour + 256% Queue Bonus + 120% Multi-Queue Bonus. Shit is amazing. Will be 60 in no time.

    5. The three PMCs – Raven, SVER, and Valor – weren’t always known by those names. Over time, they underwent a number of title changes. Valor was known as the “Allied Forces” and “Hammer,” SVER was “SEVER” and “SIRSAT, and Raven was… well, check further down the list to see what Raven was called.

    4. Though MAG was Zipper’s first “released” PS3 game, it wasn’t always planned to be. Prior to the greenlight for MAG, we were tossing around several ideas – including an espionage-themed action/platformer that thrived on chase sequences and a shooter that would ultimately become the game due out this April, SOCOM 4.

    3. MAG could be even bigger. MAG is renowned for its 256-player support – and we earned the Guinness World Record for most simultaneous players in a console FPS as proof – but that’s not the limit of our technology. Truth be told, we can support a lot more than that. We picked 256 players as our target for game design reasons (how we divide up squads, platoons, etc). However, with our architecture, we could increase the number players well beyond the 256-person limit if we wanted to – we’d just want to make sure our design fit whatever super huge number we wanted to go after first.

    2. MAG began its life as a SOCOM game. Originally, we had planned to make MAG a part of the SOCOM universe. In fact, its first working title was “SOCOM: MAG.” As the game began to take shape, however, it became apparent that what MAG was growing into was much different than SOCOM. The gameplay design, while still somewhat-tactical, continued to become less “SOCOM-like.” The emphasis on character progression and large-scale multiplayer battles with three completely different PMCs sealed the deal, and MAG happily spun off into its own universe. Oh, and remember that Raven “early title” we mentioned? Yeah, they were “Clawhammer!”

    1. MAG started as a third-person shooter. Because it started as a SOCOM title, MAG was a third-person shooter for a good portion of its development cycle. When the first MAG trailer was shown at E3 2008, for instance, the game was still planned as a TPS (and the teaser hints at it pretty strongly). As we continued to refine MAG, however, and pull it father away from its SOCOM beginnings, we moved it into the first-person realm to help differentiate it even more. After we played it, when knew absolutely that going first-person was the right choice for the game and the rest, as they say, is history!

    Patch 2.11 can't come fast enough. Froze up in Acquistion today, and it just killed my mood to play and finish off my happy hour. -.-

    If they can't fix the freezing (albeit it seems rarer than usual nowadays), at least give us the option to rejoin the last played server, or retain our XP/stats in the match and grant them to us after the fact.


    Still surprised how many hours I put into the bloody game though. Over 150 hours at this point. Never going to get the bloody platinum trophy though. Will probably nab the majority of the trophies while I'm at it though, but the one that needs 58 medals is overkill.


    [EDIT] Decent run during the anniversary bonus I guess. I didn't play it as much as I wanted to, but I got all my happy hours done daily. Got my SVER guy from 27 to 61, Valor from 3 to 38, and got my Raven guy a couple levels on the side.

    Not really a fan of neutrality 24/7. Wish they left it for the weekend or something so it doesn't lose its luster.

    On the upside though, at least it means I can actually get my repair-X-bridges medal on my Raven character without having to change factions. I guess I'm just too tied to the PMC idea, and defending *your* maps while assault the other PMC's maps. Cool idea in practice, but I guess as the player count dwindles, they need to change things to keep interest levels up.


    Got lazy with the game this month though, going to have to throw another dolla at my Valor character slot and try to pump him to 60.


    Nice to see Zipper brought back the retail-disc training maps/videos though. I'm not sure what they were thinking of removing that for all users. Perhaps they couldn't figure out how to have a patching system that differentiated the retail/digital release at the time, who knows. ;/


    I wouldn't mind an option to dump the game data to HD though. It's nice playing Interdiction/Escalation as the load times are near instant when the camera shifts back to the spawn point due to it being downloaded, where-as Acquisition/Domination can take upwards of 6 seconds when it gets busy.

    Shame there wasn't really anything 'new' with the update, but if those performance issues they addressed means 99% chance of not locking up on SVER domination, then that should be good enough for me for the time being.

    My worst experiences been with Valor, with Raven on top, and SVER in second. 90% of the matches I'm in with Valor, I'm either on MVP, or I'm sitting dead on the ground as 5 players without med kits run by me.

    Good luck trying to get the platinum though. Some of those medals are a doozy. Heck, I've still yet to get the Chest Candy trophy. Been sitting at 36 ribbons for the longest time. I'll probably be aiming to have all the bronze trophies done before I quit MAG. Would say Silvers also, but some of them are a pita, like destroying 20 escort vehicles. I'm not a fan of camping objectives in a map just for a trophy, when I could be better assisting the squad.




    On a side note, Zipper really needs to get a faster server connection for deploying the game updates in. It shouldn't take 90min to download 650mb.

    More like broke it for non-Move users. They should have made the adjustment for it an option. Knife was nearly useless for Move otherwise since a quarter of the times you lunge the controller you end up fucking your aim and miss the opponent.
