Ah, lemme think. It was a CBC special that was on last week with David Suzuki and shit. They spent half the show talking about correlations to mental illnesses and the other half talking about how we need to LEGALIZE NAOW so grow ops in BC can make billions more easily smuggling it into the northern states. I think the specific stat they were touting was that pot smokers are 4 or 5 times more likely to suffer from bipolarism and/or psychosis later in life, which clearly indicates that pot has induced/exacerbated mental breakdowns in people that would otherwise be functional. To me, that's not that surprising a stat honestly since most regular pot smokers sooner or later have one of those nasty paranoid highs and personally I get at least a little anxious nearly every time I'm high.

On the topic of brownies, I was wondering how long do they keep their potency? Like, if I bake them, do I need to eat them when they are fairly fresh or can they stay good/potent for a few days in the fridge? I think I've only done brownies once, i am always a bong/bowl kind of guy. The one time I did do them though I was pleasantly high for that entire night and all of the next day, was freaking amazing.

Since the topic has slightly diverged into the quality of weed, what do you all call 'good' weed? Here good "regs" are called 'fire' and the stickiest of the icky is 'crippie'. I imagine the results will be very localized like soda or pop. ;d

I kept a tray of brownies in the fridge for about 3 weeks cause I forgot about em. Microwaved the suckers and ate a square to try it out - worked just as good as when they were baked. Work that day was a little interesting... lol

Keihl I don't know how you can do that. When I get high its like I drank 5 cups of coffee. I have such a head rush along with it that I can't get to sleep for hours, even if I start to burn out.

Where I live high quality is usually called fire, and regular quality has tons of slang names that don't have a lot of meaning unless it is describing the strain.

I feel like terms are going to change just as much from one social group to the other as they will in different regions. I smoke with a few different groups and they have slightly different terminology.

That kind of reasoning is flawed. The bolded text is especially flawed. Correlation does not prove causation. Which is to say that just because "A" is higher in the presence of "B," does mean that "A" is higher because of "B."

A direct parallel to what you said is the following scenario.

It has been proven that inner city citizens are more likely to die from heart disease, which clearly indicates that inner city people have inherently inferior hearts.

The previous sentence indicated a correlation between a population's location and their causes of death However, the previous sentence ignored other variables such as, the average diet, the average frequency of doctor visits and the average income, which may affect the quality of diet, frequency of doctor visit, or amount of health insurance.

Now i'm going to be more specific. You said: "I think the specific stat they were touting was that pot smokers are 4 or 5 times more likely to suffer from bipolarism and/or psychosis later in life, which clearly indicates that pot has induced/exacerbated mental breakdowns in people that would otherwise be functional."

That study addresses the likelihood of psychosis or bipolar disorder in the pot smoking population when compared to either the general population or the non-pot smoking population as a whole. However, I say that this study ignores the possibility of those predisposed to psychosis or bipolar disorder due to genetics or other environmental factors. In addition, before making the claim that pot smoking predisposed them to those conditions, a thorough study of the behavior of those with those disorders would have to first be conducted.

Basically, what i'm trying to say is this: MArijuana makes people feel good. Certain people enjoy that feeling more than others. In addition, some crave it more than others, likely due to the contrast from their everyday life. Simply put, your statement is the equivalent of saying "It has been shown that teens who smoke pot are 4 to 5 times as likely to get poor grade, thus marijuana causes poor grades." This comment does not compare grades before and after the teen chose to smoke pot. If it did, it would be very likely that the teen did not excel to begin with. Those who smoke pot to the extent that is affects their life either do not care or are trying to avoid the reality of something else. Both are pre-existing conditions and are not caused by the pot.

I tend to overanalyze shit, so weed just makes it worse and makes me paranoid. Not a good combination.
