yes, starting at lv 33 or w/e with Aega's Doublet, not talking about BP delay - gear. Too many smns bp in a vermy or w/e shit.

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrr...
Never mind me, I need to learn to read...
It's a 4 attack loss over O Kote, which are completely free and relatively painless if you devote any kind of time to getting them, not to mention that O Kote come many, many levels earlier. Sure, Mee Deggi might take a while to drop, but you don't have to be there all the time, and on Remora there aren't many people camping the birds anymore to give you competition. Unless you get insanely lucky with Dynamis, Melee Gloves are much harder to get than O Kote. Even B Kote requires less total time and manpower.Melee Gloves aren't bad though. I think the 2 attack isn't worth paying for, no matter how much money you got. I get what you mean by "can't get" though. He's obviously just lost!
Still gimp as fudge though.
In short, Melee Gloves are horrible and should never be used outside a Chakra build and maybe, arguably for a Subtle Blow build. N Kote are simply better and quite affordable for any MNK who isn't capping accuracy/doesn't have Focus up, and O Kote aren't too much a pain to get that you can't claim you "can't get" anything better than Melee Gloves, end of story.
Yes. The best augment I've ever gotten was vit+1 on an Amemet Mantle +1 (unless you count int+1 on Spike Necklace, which I used on low-level BLM because I thought it was funny), and this guy gets goddamn acc+5 on a Cerberus. The Augment makes me rage.
Ochimusha Kotes aren't "Free" really. Time = money. Considering the drop rate, it's very possible that in the time you've been camping Okote you could have been farming to buy them off the AH.
Therefor Ra/Ex ones aren't really "free".
Also you say "melee gloves are much harder to obtain" - that's a really stupid statement. Sure it is if you go "I want melee gloves, time to shout for dyna jeuno runs and lock mnk drop" but who in their right mind will do that? You join a regular dyna shell and after a while of events you'd do regularly anyway, eventually they'll drop. I wouldn't call that hard.
Clearly you don't know how much of a bitch Dynamis can be. Sure, you can get lucky and have your item drop in the first run through a zone, or you can go 10 runs and not see it. Either way, you're gimping yourself if you use something worse until 73 then insist on using a substandard piece because "eventually they'll drop."
O Kote involves minimal involvement by one person every 15 minutes (especially with no one else there). You do something you were going to do anyway—study, watch TV, whatever—and look back periodically to see whether the PH or NM spawned. If that's too hard, well, we're already in the gimp thread so you don't have to go too far.
A full clear city is 12-15 armor drops typically, with 15 possible drops the chance of a MNK dropping in 12 is 56% and in 15 is 64%(counting double drops the same as single). Any shell that's been going any amount of time caps on city drops, especially the not-so-spectacular ones, so the biggest hurdle is actually doing jeuno.
This. Compared to my shell's outright fetish for doing Windurst for no apparent reason, Jeuno gets done maybe... once a month, tops. At a generous estimate.
Edit: Although now that I look back at our record, Beaucedine is the new Windurst, but decent items for me can actually drop there.
Jeuno mostly sucks anyway![]()
6/6 2 jobs, 5/6 2 jobs and 1/6 on the last, you're preaching to the choir.
That said, saying it's "hard" isn't accurate. If you are just some casual mnk, turning up to jeuno and punching stuff blindly for a few hours is a lot less work than farming, or camping the NMs. Hard to get it quickly but for those kind of casual players I doubt they really care.
Please note: I am not advocating Melee Gloves over Okote in anyway or defending anyone! I just don't like the "Okote are free" argument, nor the "melee gloves are the hardest to get".
Like I said, difference between "casual" and "gimp." Unless MNK is your first job 34+ it's not as bad as you think to camp Mee Deggi. Also like I said, at least on Remora there are a lot of times where no one's camping him, so you can check back every 15 minutes while studying, watching TV, etc. If that's too hard a thing to do, then you've got a gimp mentality going on.
I'm not saying every MNK has to be all 5/5 Usu with Spharai or gimp, but I am saying there's a certain standard of effort you should be expected to meet, and O Kote are well within that standard these days.
EDIT: Also I spoke to that gimp-ass MNK again today. Among his more brilliant statements was that "if you hit harder than someone who gets that 5%, who gives a shit?", referring to the 5 Store TP from Rajas Ring not being that important, compared to the -3 enmity from Tamas Ring making it a better choice for someone who has both a mage and a DD job levelled. Needless to say he's not the type to accept a parse as proof of just how bad he is.
