Mmaximus also has a dring according to some people in my LS. If he was wearing that gear to show it off, why wouldn't he show off his dring? hurrr

@tox: I invite COR and I expect them to DD. I don't allow them to /WHM.

I think the /NIN COR is just as bad as the /WHM COR if they aren't pulling. Without a Mkris/Joytoy setup they're gimping their melee dot right away, and nearly every COR I've been with in a merit party is 4/5 AF and melees in Racc rings. There's no way in hell they are going to need shadows with the way they gimp themselves. The last COR I partied with was /NIN, not pulling, and was outparsed by the RDMs Dia. This sort of thing happens far too often and is one of the reasons why the majority of the people out there have no idea that a COR can actually use it's gun, let alone do respectable damage. I've always gone /WAR or /RNG and although I never tired it, I've heard /DNC can provide excellent support and DD as well.

Basically there is no need for a /WHM COR in a merit party, and lol@COR/NIN who aren't pulling.

When I merit on COR I prefer /WHM, but it doesn't stop me from DDing in light staff etc while in MP gear. Slap on MP+ gears and support-heal when needed/between shots and QDing... Hell, a bit more MP gear and I could main heal the merit party with BRD pulling. All you need is to eat Sushi or Pot-au-feu and on birds you shouldn't have ACC issues Anyways, even in MP+ gears, and if you do, macro your MP and ACC gears in, and swap to ACC+ on WS's, simple and effective.

I prefer /dnc if i end up in a supporting situation in meripos. With upcoming 99 cap, I'm fairly sure it'll be the best supporting sj with the addition of haste samba to the mix.

Dualwielding Mkris/Joytoy actually hurts your melee DoT and TP gain, you should wield whatever has the better acc, but i agree, cor/nin should be pulling its better than brd/nin pulling (at least on birds) we dont get elegied (not that it would matter) by our own pulls, or put to sleep. If your not pulling as cor you should be DDing either cor/war (berserk is <3) or cor/rng for the acc, or cor/drg if you got the haste shield and earring and enough acc to overcome to loss of /rng

Eh? How is COR/NIN > BRD/NIN for pulling?

DW Joy/Mkris is actually better TP gain than singlewielding either of them. The main penalty of that combination is the SJ.

And BRDs can use throwing weapons too!

Light shot resists less often than lullaby (ive personally never witnessed a resist on birds) and lasts longer.

Peacemaker is insanely fast delay 270 (if you prefer to use a gun) or you can use darts Delay 168 vs brd's elegy pulls (risking slow that makes their recast on pulls and buffs take longer) or Mamoolbane Delay 294.

corsairs buffs are instant use, while bards need to cast them, also corsair buffs last 5 mins which gives you about 1.25 mins of leway while pulling to get 4 buffs up if your doing 4(2 mage 2 melee), 1.66 mins leway if your doing 3 buffs (2 melee + 1 mage, or 1 melee 1 mage and exp roll) and if your really lazy 2.5 mins leway if your not even giving that mage roll and just keeping cor roll and another melee roll up

Before anyone cites the 1 min recast on quickdraw, cor (and bard) can hold birds via utsusemi using QD only for links and leaving a bird with the DD's while you buff the mage. but bards risk either losing a shadow from a copied lullaby when the bird wakes up, or end up with a slept melee.

And this is why cor/nin > brd/nin for pulling. But in most parties with a bard and a corsair i melee as cor/war or cor/rng and let the bard pull, just because im better at it doesn't mean its always best for the party.

tldr; Cor pulls faster, buffs last longer, and sleeps resist less/cant be copied by bird.

Shut up. BRDs are better pullers. Quit trying to convince people that CORs are better QQ

I'm not trying to compare one bard to another, but i did mention mamoolbane, and its still slower than Corsair's options.

You just reiterated part of what i said and bolded it... which really has no point.

Except for the fact that I'd rather have a BRD pulling with Mamoolbane and a COR DDing than a COR pulling and a bard doing nothing but being a backup healer I don't need.

    Derp I read that wrong

But, what's a BRD going to do other than sing and pull?

Well i covered that too, i would rather DD on cor and let the bard pull (because i DD better than the bard as well lol) if you have a cor and a bard in the same party... but my only point was that cor is a better puller, not that its better to pull as cor if you have a bard.

I don't claim to know a lot about MNK, but I find the hand/body choices really questionable. (Yes, that's an Ancient torque) He has a really shitty Kikiou NIN too.

Would I be correct on shitty choices?
