serious question
serious question
yes, but a good amount of them give profits to charities
why the fuck would they do that
tax evasion
it seems counterproductive to give away money to not lose money
not if you own the non-profit
why do you think Bill Gates left Microsoft to work for his own nonprofit
and then created Penny Arcade
Bill Gates left whatnow
man im so glad i have good ideas
the internet is about to get so much more awesome
In all seriousness, only the biggest webcomics make mondo money. PA, PVP, all that.
Midrange comics can make enough to act as the author's sole income. Strips like Something Positive, Questionable Content, maybe McNinja.
There's also the few webcomics done by established professional comic artists, Girl Genius, FreakAngels, that friend of Scott Kurtz, that bank on the author itself.
Most small comics can bring in enough to cover the hosting bills, and maybe a tiny about of pocket cash.
The most, MOST important thing to success is, UPDATE CONSISTENTLY AND ON TIME.
If you can't keep to a schedule, you can't keep readers.
i dont mean all that bullshit real comic nonsense. i have an idea that hasnt been done before plus i can just steal good bg posters for staff and pay them really small amounts of money while i harvest their creativity so that i can buy really expensive custom guitars
and i was thinking more along the lines of comedy comics, not your standard oldschool brp plastic baggy issue #1 omg comics. explosm is getting kind of boring for me and xkcd is great but there is still room for more namsayin
i just want money tbh
