Worth Upgrading, or Just buy new?

My PC is 3 or so years old, got vista 32bit home edition, more GB of space than i will ever need. My processor is a Q6600 Core 2 Quad, 2.4Ghz.

I have no issue upgrading the ram / video card as im confident i wouldnt fuck it up, just wondering if with that processor is it worth upgrading or just buying new? (I want to be able to play demanding games at medium quality or better)

    thx in advance.

Your quad core is still perfectly fine for playing any games since even now most games don't support multi-core processors. If you still want to upgrade the processor the only worthwhile upgrades will require a new motherboard. I would suggest waiting until AMD/Intel come out with their 6 core processors.

q6600's are just fine, they are killer procs, no need to upgrade it just yet

yea, you'd find a better boost in performance with spending more money on the video card than upgrading the cpu

Your processor won't bottleneck performance on regular gaming, etc. so there isn't much point in buying new computer.

    Just upgrade.
