Candyball 6: Treatz and Beatz II
Although some of you probably wouldn't consider it a concert.
ARCADE FIRE, stubbs bbq, bar none the best live show ever.
Not at all, they came to new orleans and he was fine. Trans Am was the opening act (which i missed) and during Lateralus the drummer for Trans Am came out and had a battle with carey and then Maynard held up score cards for each of them. Maynard wasn't overly vocal between songs or anything, but I wasn't expecting anything other than what I got, which was a really great sounding performance. This was... 2008?
In no particular order:
Daft Punk in '06 @ Coachella
Opeth w/Baroness @ Revolution Live FTL
These guys:
Spoiler: show
Probably one of the best experiences had to be going backstage to see Mastodon @ Coachella '09, freind of a friend hooked us up with passes (they weren't even letting the press backstage)
Spoiler: show
Recently saw Surfer Blood several times, I absolutely love seeing them live. Most recently I saw them open up for Monotonix, who have such a outrageous live act the lead singer almost broke his leg when i saw them; forcing them to end early while waiting on an ambulance.
Spoiler: show
Music festivals don't count! (not to mention they all suck).
Smashing pumpkins in like 2000 in Phoenix. No other bands, 3 hours.
Seen shikari live a few times, once at a place called astoria2 in london. It's a tiny venue, which meant it was rammed with true shikari fans. The place just went nuts for their entire set. Its underground meaning it was a pure sweat box but when shikari are playing it all adds to the gig!
Franz Ferdinand
Metric
Bedouin Sound Clash
Sam Roberts
Tom petty & the heartbreakers - Hollywood bowl 2008?
Metallica - 2000
I've seen NiN twice
Marilyn Manson
David Bowie
Jane's addiction
The Cure.
My top 5 favorite bands and I gotta say the best show of the bunch was Manson. He put on a really good show. I give props to Perry Farrell though, that guy is a showman but although NiN Is my favorite band Manson takes my concert trophy.
On a side note i'd love to see Amos live and i think the bosstones would be awesome live too.
On another side note i saw the cure durning blood flowers and If you weren't suicidal before the show you sure as hell were after. . was probably the worse concert i've ever seen.
August Burns Red
and
Veil of Maya (fuckin sick little black guy on speed playing the guitar = awesome)
Slayer in 04
Deadmau5 - Prob the sickest one. Small venue but the entire thing was so epic.
Global Deejays
Boys Noize
Saw these two at music festivals but they were the best there by far.
I've had the same experience. I've seen 3 of their shows also, and in the first one I seen, he was on a circular slightly-raised platform, practically beside the drummer. Was in a full body black (leather?) suit, and never once turned and looked at the crowd.
The last 2 I've seen, and especially the latest one I attended (which was the tour for 10,000 Days) he was a real active and at the front of the band.
That show (2006 in Winston Salem, NC) was really neat in particular. I thought in that show they really ramped up the visual effects from previous shows. And a Japanese band which I've never heard of until then, called Melt Banana, was opening.
The two shows I can think of that really was practically a fist fight to music was 1) A Norma Jean show at my college and 2) Jagermeister tour at Myrtle Beach, SC. The later featured Chimera, Fear Factory, and Slipknot. All good times.
Ozzy's the best I've seen, though I haven't been to a ton of concerts. Was around Christmas time, and iirc he entered on a sleigh and offed a fake reindeer.
Mudvayne opened.. They were so ridiculously loud and horrible I walked out, waiting for Rob Zombie.. He was alright, but Ozzy killed it.. Didn't want it to end![]()
