Now that you mention the infamous case of the Black Dahlia, I kinda sorta wanna go where they found the body, or at least half of it, since it's like a stone's throw away. <_<

Well, I admit I don't know much about it. Just the basic story.
Seems like Rockstar is releasing a few short stories.
You can read one in full here, it's not bad: http://media.rockstargames.com/lanoi...atsInAName.pdf
Argh fuck, I'm debating cancelling my preorder of this on PS3 and getting it on xbox.
ya i heard the multiplayer is gonna be tight
GO BACK TO THE SHADOWS.
This nigga lol.
Le bamp for tuesday
Waiting for review so I can decide which version to get.
Gamefly shipped the 360 version this morning. Can't wait. Hoping their recent shipping speeds continue and I actually see it arrive tomorrow.
Rockstar used the PS3 version for all the videos if that helps. I'm kinda worried the 360 version will have some slowdown/graphical issues like Red Dead Redemption. Not to mention, the PS3 comes with an exclusive case.
I downloaded 4 hours of music from the 1940s to play during the midnight launch at my store and I'm dressing up too. :D
PS3 version of Red Dead ran in 640p and the 360 version ran at 720p and you could tell, I own both versions, and the 360 version did not have any kind of slow down or graphical issues. Really dont care about the extra case because the extra hideout in Red Dead was rather insignificant.
Why did this game have to come out during finals week...
Eagerly waiting reviews! Red Dead being as good as it was makes me very hopeful.
You should post your thoughts if you get it/when you play through it a bit, Kyo. I would trust you over review sites, lol.
From the PS3 review on IGN.
8.5 Presentation
The story doesn't match the great performances. The "game" elements are sometimes distracting from the immersive environment.
8.0 Graphics
The faces are pretty damned awesome -- it's the actors, after all. L.A. in the ‘40s looks good. At times the framerate stutters and there are a few annoying graphical glitches here and there.
10 Sound
So much great voice work. The real star is the soundtrack.
8.5 Gameplay
Despite its flaws, L.A. Noire does something we've never seen before. It's too often repetitive and predicatble, but it's still enjoyable.
8.0 Lasting Appeal
Depending on how much time you devote to exploring the city, it will take anywhere from 12 to 20 hours to beat. Many won't find a reason to return.
From the 360 review.
The Xbox 360 version has a few performance issues. While both versions have occasional framerate issues, L.A. Noire on X360 has more notable problems. It's not enough to take away from the game, but if choosing between the two, PS3 has fewer technical issues.
So yeah I'll be buying the triple version, if the games awesome I'll get both at some point anyway, so glad I dont have to swap 3 discs.
I read IGN's review and it kinda makes me disappointed that no matter what you can't really "fail" and alter the storyline. Like if you fail to read a character's lie, they don't get away.
Maybe they'll release some expansion where that does happen.
I don't know, I kind of admire the direction they're going with it. It might be "too easy" when compared to a lot of other games, but I think they've aimed to make a story with a game attached, and it looks like it'll be all the better for it. Given the type of game too, it's probably a method to get more people to play.
For example, my wife wanted to play, but was afraid of repeatedly failing the shooting and combat sections, but knowing that they're skipable opens the game to a much wider group of potential players. It's an interesting design choice, and I do hope they release some "hard mode" cases somewhere down the line, but I don't think the decision to make the game impossible to fail takes anything away from it.
From Giantbomb.
For those contemplating which version to get Giant Bomb wrote the following in their review, "Having spent a lot of time with both versions of L.A. Noire, the PlayStation 3 game is the clear-cut winner. Both versions of the game look fantastic, but there were a few instances of painful frame rate drops and objects drawing in too slowly on the Xbox that didn't exist on the PS3. Also, the shadows look a bit more jagged. This is splitting hairs since, both games look good enough that you should just get the one on the platform you prefer, though the PS3 also has the added benefit of being on a single disc to the Xbox's three, and includes an exclusive downloadable case (which I didn't get to try, and you probably won't be able to play either until the PlayStation Store is back online)."
Not TOO terribly off topic, but did anyone buy this from Kmart today? There are 2 stores doing deals, TRU gives you a $15 gift card for buying the game, Kmart gives the $20 coupon that expires in July, but you also get a 19.99 game for free. Wondering what game people got, as I have no idea what sort of things are that low.
I went to Best Buy last night for mine. They gave me a bottle of water(lol?), a $10 gift card, upgraded my reward zone membership, gave me a free magazine and some DLC. For not having to pre order I was quite pleased. Oh yea and the game is fucking sweet.
