Abandoned Insane Asylums

Man, that doesn't even count abandoned farms, random abandoned houses, and weird shit you sometimes see. There's an awesome dilapidated bridge that I checked out on the way between my hometown and here once. Plus, there are like 5 or 6 abandoned towns about 3 minutes off the highway or that we drive directly through. If you start taking detours, the whole thing gets ridiculous!

Old dilapidated buildings are always interesting, but my favorite abandoned thingy is this island. It was populated until 1974 and since then no one has lived there. Its almost like a modern city completely abandoned.

I loved the photos of around Chernobyl too -- where you know people want to move back but they can't because the whole place is deceptively DEATH TRAP

Some people are actually moving back there, saying they'd prefer to die an invisible death than deal with the crime and poverty of the cities :/

Great stuff, love this pic. That's another thing I have a minor obsession with is old soviet Russia and cold war era stuff. Especially like the cold East German and Polish buildings from Soviet occupation after WW2.
