    Monitor dimming problem.

So I have this problem with my monitor flickering between normal and dim. I first noticed it while playing White Knight Chronicles, when I would run into a shaded area or in a dungeon it would dim the whole screen but when I'm in a well lit area it's fine. I thought it might be the game but then I noticed it was happening when I scrolled into a certain part of a dark website. So then I thought it had to be my OS causing it to flicker but I can't find any settings that would cause it.

I'm currently running windows 7 32 bit with dual monitors. The problem is only happening on my newest monitor that I bought in the fall (Asus vk246h). Is there a setting I'm missing or is my monitor shot?

Start by making sure that all power-saving options on the monitor are turned off.

Does the monitor have any sort of dynamic contrast ratio option you can toggle?

Would the power settings be under the monitor's menu? It does have an ASCR on/off setting but after making the monitor reset it settings I can't access it. Should it be on or off? I'm hoping that the reset fixed it.

That setting appears to be ASUS-speak for dynamic contrast ratio, so definitely turn it off.
