Windower Not Hooking (Windows 7 x64)

By default windows 7 does not have DirectX 8/9 installed, and uses some kind of emulation layer that forwards it to DX11.

I realized this after playing FFXI a bit on a fresh install then some other DX based games but then tried some DX9 game and it told me i need to install DirectX lol.

No, they are 2 completely different code bases. which is why DX10+ is not backwards compatible to DX9-

Did you remember to download the x64 version of POL/FFXI off of SE's Site?


In the previous windower versions, I needed to open up a window of Internet Explorer to get the stuff to work, I also messed with the delay times a little bit when plugins were loaded.

Yes.

I wouldn't know how to change the delay, but I don't think that would solve the crash issue even if that was the problem for the console/plugins.

Yes. HP Pavilion dv6-2088dx. Like I said, Windower worked on this thing in December. >.<

Looks like Aikar is working on fixing v3. If you could check and make sure v4 works on it when you get a chance, I'd appreciate it. I just want to be sure that the bug doesn't appear there as well.

Yeah, I thought I mentioned in the OP that Windower 4 works just fine. If not, sorry. >.< Though, and I don't know if it's related, but certain keys don't work, like apostrophe/quote, +/=, etc. I'd just use W4 if I could figure out lua. lol

Also, spellcast for v4 does not function as-is. Azaril just included his work-in-progress in the release in case anyone wanted to check it out.

Starhawk and I will have some info on v4 spellcast replacement in the near future.

As the other plugins, I hope to have a release soon that will add timestamp, silence and logger as well as some various core bugfixes I've worked on. Other plugins will follow after that

If this gets fixed I might just go back to my x64 7 partition. Maybe even delete my x86 7 in the process too finally ._.

The keyboard issues on v4 are known and do NOT happen on any of my machines. This release won't have keyboard updates, but the next one's main focus is fixing the bugs with the keyboard hook

To run Windower on my Windows 7 x64 I turned off Aero Effects, then opened POL Viewer, then ran the Windower Launcher GUI with the x64 button clicked. Once I logged on to the game, I would shut the POL Viewer I opened. This always worked for me, so maybe it'll help a bit if you're trying to find a solution while its worked out.

Hopefully someone on the project can come up with a solution to not have the hook require all the "extra steps".

Aikar is better at the hook calls than me, but if I can get v4's release out I'll see if I can't take a look at v3 as well and maybe help out.

After you hiy the 'Play' button and the window reloads to whatever size you've got the settings at. It works on my Windows 7, i'd do it everytime i started up and it wouldn't work without opening a regular POL window first.

Does windower 4 alpha allow for the script macros? Only reason I use windower was for that~

EDIT: NVM actually looked at the forum that's linked in Nitsuj's sig, but wow I can't for the life of me understand how to even do a simple gear change macro script. o.o

It hasn't actually been implemented yet. It's coming in the next release. Last I talked to Nitsuj, he said he'd be starting on the next release last Saturday or so. I'm not sure when it'll be out. I don't really want to rush him and seem ungrateful or anything (hurry up, I'm dying here, Nitsuj! ; ; <3).
