    Printer Sharing

I'm currently using an HP Laserjet 1150 printer on Windows XP 32 bit and i'm trying to set it up so that my laptop running Windows 7 64 bit can print on it as well. I've found the printer on the network and i've tried downloading several different drivers from the HP website, hooking the printer up to the laptop to try and install drivers( which it did install some but apparently they were the wrong ones), and i've run the HP driver scanner on thier website which told me I was using the wrong drivers, prompted me to download a different set of drivers, and those didnt work either. When I click to connect to the printer and browse among the 4 different folders of drivers I have now, it either tells me that: cannot connect to the printer, or windows cannot find a suitable printer driver.

I've done some googling trying to find a resolution but no such luck. I've been screwing with it for like 3 hours now and i really wanted to figure it out on my own but I dont think I can so any help I can get would really be appreciated. Thanks.

Have you tried just seeing if your laptop can actually use that printer?

Directly connect it to your laptop and test if you can even print. It might be a compatibility issue with windows 7. And I would go to the website for HP printers directly and look for the printer driver and see if they have a driver that supports windows 7.

LaserJet model specific printer drivers are currently available within the Windows 7 operating system. Installation of these drivers can be performed via Devices and Printers , formerly known as the Add Printer Wizard .
NOTE: If the model specific driver that you are looking for does not appear in the list of available printers, clicking the Windows Update button underneath the list of available printers may provide additional drivers to choose from. Requires opt-in to Microsoft Windows Update and internet connection.

For Multifunction and All-In-One LaserJet products, your product may have additional scan and fax software available at www.hp.com .
HP wants to make sure you have the most up-to-date information on the drivers and software for your HP products. Click here to register for HP Subscriber’s Choice. You will be notified when additional drivers become available.
Installation of these drivers can be performed via Devices and Printers, formerly known as the Add Printer Wizard.

You should be able to do a network printer, then browse the list of printers drivers on your machine for your actual device.

Another trick you can use is this, the problem with this is that you will need static IP on the machine hosting the printer share:

    5. Install Network Printers Locally
If the printer is on a network, you may need to tell the Add Printer wizard that you're installing a local printer, use LPT 1 as the port it's connected to, and then change the port setting after the driver is installed. To change the port, go to the Devices and Printers dialog box, right click on the printer name, and choose Printer Properties (not to be confused with Properties). Then choose the Ports tab and the Add Port button. In most cases, you'll want to highlight Standard TCP/IP Port, choose the New Port button, and then work your way through the rest of the wizard screens, entering the Printer's IP address in the appropriate dialog box.

Tried both methods Maf, neither worked. When I click on the networked printer, it keeps popping up with this message: Windows cant find a driver for HP Laser jet 1150 PCL 5e on the network. Then asks that I find it manually.
