LG Dare VX9700 - Music Question

Ok short, and useless backstory: My iPod has recently broken and I can't get a new one anytime soon. However, I do have my old phone (the Dare) laying around un-used. For the time being, I can't work out without music, so here is my question.

Does anyone here have personal experience with listening to music through an LG Dare? (Headphones wise)

Is the sound quality comparable to iPod? Or is it at least close?
How many songs should I be able to hold as far as a general 4-5 MB song goes?

Because if not I don't want to waste my time.

(The only reason I am asking this without trying myself is because I lost my USB cable for it, and before I order the cord to do this, I want to make sure that it's going to be worth it.)

Generally the DACs on phones aren't that great. My LG AX585 was passable; I haven't really done any listening with my Touch Pro 2. Iphone would be the exception since it's based on the ipod anyway, but otherwise they typically aren't built to be listening devices. More like a phone that happens to play MP3s.

When I had a Dare I used to listen to music on it all the time; a VBR mp3 on your iPod isn't going to sound any better than that same track on your Dare.
