Blank Screen
My monitor had been working fine until today when I attempted to wake it from power save. The LED light stayed green but the screen remained blank. I checked the power cords and made sure everything was connected. I could hear the video i was watching on Youtube so it wasn't frozen. I tried rebooting the system; the display went black right before the Vista log in. The only way i could get on was to boot in safe mode.
Here's where i draw a blank.
My first attempt at a remedy was to Restore Point to a couple days ago, but the problem persisted.
Next i went into Device Manager > Display Adaptors and found my GeForce 9800 driver. There was nothing indicating there was a problem. Upon advice from various online forums with a similar problem as me, I uninstalled and deleted the driver and rebooted, figuring Vista would find the card and reinstall it. I was able to boot in normal mode but when i checked my Device Manager > Display Adaptors it had "Standard VGA Graphics Adapter" listed.
I downloaded the latest nVidia drivers for GeForce® 9800 GT and when i rebooted i had the blank screen again. I have 64-bit Vista and I made sure the driver matched.
Is my video card fubared? I'm not sure what next troubleshooting steps should be. Any suggestions?

When you get the blank screen, take the cable out, then stick it back in. That normally works, and after setting your res to something supported you don't get it again.
Hope that helps.
