    Animated Scythe question

    So my LS tried this for the first time tonight. Using my Bec de Faucon for zerg, I had heard using Catastrophe on it would delay it's warp. No luck for us. I used Catastrophe 3x in first 30 seconds and had tp + ic wing and it poofed.

    Questions:

    Is it 100% immune to spell stun? If not, is rdm/drk viable?
    Is it worth it to use my bec de faucon to zerg, instead of my merc kris?
    Is there any "known" or "proven" way to keep it's interest aside from luck?

    I'm sure all this is on these boards somewhere but I searched for quite some time and came up with nothing.

    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Sam is a pretty good zerger for that fight just because of how short the fight is. I don't think we had any drks for my animated weapon. Mostly war/sam and sam, which seemed to be enough.

    I can't verify because the fight was so fast and I never checked the logs, but someone who was helping me at the time suggested having a few of our DD's JA stun it mid-way to near the end of the fight. I haven't heard anyone else suggest that, though, so I have no idea if he was full of BS or not. Either way, could be worth trying anyway, though it'll slow down your dps a little if it does nothing -- weapon bash, blade bash, shield bash.. My friend also suggested that we use Mijin Gakure to stun, and doing a doing a bg search finding this, it seems he wasn't the only one who thought of it. That thread is about 6 months old, maybe there's some info in there that'll help.

    If doing JA stuns, I recommend to set your stun order based on mob's HP. IE, I had 5 stunners and I had them stun at: 5% of the Animated Dagger's HP, 15%, 25%, 35%, and 45% (iirc). Assuming that the JA's actually stun it, and the fight is 30 seconds, that's roughly a stun every 3 seconds, giving it little time to act after 50% HP. First fight, it warped out at bout 3% (I actually messed up the pull and demons were killing everyone so we would've won), and 2nd fight deaded it.

    I can confirm JA stun works (thought not foolproof) I have personally stunned warp using blade bash.

    JAs do stun it and also WS stun like flat blade (not as reliable as JA's stun). Didn't try mijin before though.

    Other than that, kill faster is better.

    Definitely use M. Kris over Stage 4 Scythe. As far as stunning it, I'm pretty sure it just has a very very high restistance to magically based stun. However, I have shield bashed it mid warp and interrupted its casting. That's not to say JA stun (Weapon bash, blade bash, etc) is going to 100% stun it though. Last time I fought it, Catastrophe didn't do anything to stop it from warping, and I'm sure there's a multitude of unproven theories of how to increase the amount of time you have to kill it. I am sure there is a way to make it stay longer, because I have fought it a large number of times and have seen it warp very quickly and I have also seen it not warp for a while.

    As far as fighting it, if you have very powerful drks with good SE BW setups (yourself included) you'll often find that catastrophe one shots (Shame it's not nearly as powerful from your relic weapon) them. I remember actually using DRK/PLDs (Sentinel) to reduce the damage, which actually worked extremely well despite my skepticism. So you might want to consider that if your drks are getting killed too fast. Rangers, samurais, monks, & warriors all work very well on scythe provided you buff them correctly, as well. Unfortunately, this is a highly manpower dependant fight, but keep at it and you'll get it done, i'm sure.

    My LS includes their Animated Weapon fights in our usual Xarcabard farming runs so we don´t go out of our way and bring let´s say DRK/DRGs for the zerg. We go heavy melee, SAMs, WARs, DRKs maybe a MNK if somebody feels like playing it, THF feint. Basic zerg setup, 6 SV´d songs and go at it. Never had the issue of an Animated Weapon warping since I´ve been in LS besides an Animated Dagger where one of our BRDs fucked up and didn´t play madrigal.

    I've even seen ES stun get resisted. JA bash and ws Bash are the way to go. Besides that, make it dead as fast as you can and pray.

    Dunno what sort of setup you generally run with, but we'd usually have 1-2 BLUs with us in a given run (not for the weapons, specifically, just in general) and if they rotate their stun spells, it's reasonably reliable, at least comparatively speaking to traditional stuns.
