    Build me a Gaming PC

Hello, I'm trying to setup a new Desktop Gaming PC at newegg.com, but im not real computer savvy. I semi know what I all need, but i dont know anything thats Good to Great for what I can afford within my Budget.

Ill be using this PC for Gaming Only, and my college courses online for Web Design. I play FFXI only currently, but will be doing the FFXIV, Diablo3, Starcraft2, and maybe find a FPS Game on the PC as well. So I need a PC that can expect to run all these Games Smoothly as possible with minimum problems, as well as handle the programs and graphics ill be running in my classes.

My Budget is 1000$ Maximum at this point, I dont need a Monitor nor the mouse/keyboard/speakers. So if any of you PC Guru's can help me with getting the best available hardware, I would greatly appreciate it.

    Thanks Alot, First Post. :D

Use this, try make your own list, and run it through here before you buy the parts. Best way to become more tech savvy is to start doing it yourself. (Not trying to be an ass or anything, I'll probably post a list for you once I get to work.)

That cpu listed doesn't fit that mobo. I'd also not bother with a sound card myself.

I'll leave it upto someone else to help you out, as I live in the UK and working out prices is a pain.

Derp, I'm retarded, just kind of copy and pasted stuff, didn't really look at them too much. Put a new CPU up, and soundcards are more personal preference I guess, I put them in my machines because I tend to use my computer as a stereo system at times.

I am torn on video cards for you... What will you be playing? I am an EVGA fanatic (IMHO the BEST customer service around) but w/ the new Nvidia cards not out yet (not that it would matter since they're gonna cost an arm and a leg when released) combined with the fact that EVGA's stock of GTX 200 series cards seems LOW (probably due to getting ready for the new 300 series) right now.

I will post my list MINUS a video card(s) and you can decide what you want to do or I can make a suggestion based on your respone to my initial question in this post.

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819115215 $199.99

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813188053 $154.99 - $35.00 MIR

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145260 $109.99

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811129021 $99.99

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817139005 $99.99 - $20.00 MIR

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822148395 $54.99

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16827135204 $24.99

That is $744.93 - Note that I took the sound card out. I have a x58 (i7 platform) EVGA motherboard w/ the same onboard audio and it is just fine. I also suggested a smaller case since you really don't need a full tower on a $1,000 budget. I also went down to a 650W PSU which should be fine depending on your response to my question about what kind of games and whether or not you SLI. Also, note that the $744.93 is not factoring in MIR's.

I'd be glad to help more just let me know if you have any questions and what your usage would be in terms of gaming so we can decide on a video card(s)

They aren't *BAD* cards - Granted there is better but they ain't that bad.. I would be more app for the OP to go w/ ONE gpu though (for now) but be able to gear himself to an SLI setup in the future if need be..

Need more input from the OP

SLI will only show it's worth if you are gaming with resolutions of 1920x1080 or higher. The money spent on the 2nd card doesn't give 100% more performance so it really isn't worth it imo. Get a newer card like an ati 4870 or 4890 series, I am always recommending this card since it is perfect in price and performance right now (imo of course...). Tie that up with a quad core cpu and 4 gb of ram, and you will be set for a long while.

This was my first try putting a list together for a computer.. like i said im not computer savvy, so im not even some of these items are even compatible with other hardware on the list and such.

As you can see the total is $812.91. My limit is $1000, so you see anything im missing that i need to add to my cart? or a easy upgrade that you would recommend me upgrading? Like i said in original post that i dont need speakers/monitor/keyboard/mouse.

If need any other information from me ill be on for couple hours checking regularly so just ask away :D and Thanks for all the help and quick replies, love it!

I also have question about the, "Killer Xeno Pro Gaming Network Card" . . whats it exactly do, and for the games I plan to play, would it be good to get it, worth it?

My Game list and School Usage was in Orig Post. :D but to save you time^^ FFXI FFXIV Starcraft2 Diablo3 and maybe a FPS Game if something comes out. I also will be running programs for my schooling that deals with Web Designs and Graphics, so I'll need a PC to run great when Using any of these Programs.

Notebook HDD there, look for 3.5" drives. Or on newegg this section.

I've had that case and I didn't like it much, but some of that is my taste. It was easy to put the motherboard on and stuff, I just didn't like the door blocking the front USB ports. And I'm a little unsure about Raidmax PSUs.

Sorry to add to this thread... But it might help both of us.

Friend wants to build an i7 gaming build for badcompany2... He wants to drop one of his overtime shifts into a computer since his is lagging behind. Wants me to build it for him, this is what he sent me so far.

His current build is around 950$, haven't looked it over too hard yet... and it might help you out as well as him with the comments I might get out of here about it.

Personally I think the ram is overpriced, he plans to run 6gb of it. I think the PSU is just too much, but he was originally planning to xfire 5770's or 50's or something... bumped up the card. And I'm a fan of Antec cases, so not sure there.

Thoughts/etc, maybe helps the OP out as well? Think the total with 6gb of ram is 950 before tax.

If he doesn't plan to Crossfire the 5850 then he should grab an AMD 770 mobo or something. No need to pay $100 when he can pay $70. Also I'd recommend grabbing the 5850 combo I linked earlier over that PSU + GPU. You're basically choosing your warranty when you decide between those cards (reference), they don't make the cards themselves... non reference is obviously a tad different. The warranty on the Gigabyte is actually a year longer too.

As far as the HDD goes, I've read that Seagate still has some problems... in the 750GB range I'd pick up the WD Black... it's actually really cheap right now.

Personally I think the ram is overpriced, he plans to run 6gb of it.
He should stick to 4GB of RAM for now. Unless you buy an i7 for Tri-Channel 6GB isn't going to give you much more performance. That case you linked actually has a combo deal with 4GB of A-Data DDR3-1600.

Edit: The price on the Gigabyte HD5850 was $299 earlier. :/ Oh well. I'd still go with that over the other cards, that PSU combo has a huge discount.

If you can wait a month or so Nvidia will be coming out with their new graphics cards, which will make ATI lower their prices.
