Went to see it with my kid brother/sister, so I was free to cry as much as I wanted lol. I think the most interesting thing was watching people in the theater after, all the guys in their 20s were the ones who seemed the most touched by the movie.

I was already misty eyed when he finished w/ all the toys but holy shit when he started talking about Woody I could barely breath, the whole scene I was just thinking about when I gave all my favorite toys to my brother and sister.. which is exactly the memory they were going for w/ that scene

Worth seeing in 3-D?

I'm particularly not fond of 3-D movies that force your focus often (either via depth of field or some other camera technique), so if it has that a lot I'll probably just stick to standard as that shit hurts the eyes.

If you don't like 3-D, Pixar doesn't overuse it, so you should be fine. Think more of Avatar/Up in terms of what to expect, but be forewarned that a few scenes in the movie did benefit from the depth 3-D gives like

was so good, don't know how it could have been better. Toy Story 3 is one of the best Pixar movies, I have no idea how they do it, cracking out a hit after another.

I was really thinking How to Train your Dragon would get the oscar this year because tbh, TS3 didn't look that great.

Which sucks because this was the only chance for Dreamworks to get that award.

I definitely held back a tear, but man, shit should at least be a nominee for movie of the year (although you know how "critics" are).

Also, did anyone else feel the movie was incredibly dark at times? I mean, it was going for lots of deeper emotions and concepts, even the Pixar short at the beginning, "Night & Day," was a metaphor for a very admirable but above-the-level-of-kids message. I know they had "us" in mind - those of us who were kids when TS1/2 came out, but I felt the PG rating might not neccesarily mean its a great movie for 5 year olds. Yes, there's no swearing or nudity or sexuality, but... idk.

That's really what kids need, back in the day the awesome Disney movies use to put fear into me depending on the situations. I don't get that from any childrens movie nowadays.

Up was equally dark in the middle and tackled very similar themes of letting go, Wall-E was dark in general and I felt would have been better if it had kept the same nihilistic tone it had throughout instead of a happy ending copout. There are countless other 'dark' moments in Pixar's movies(Toy Story 1/2 having some of the other really memorable ones on par w/ Up/TS3/Wall-E, but I think its really cool that their last 3 movies have all been so mature. I also think Michael Giacchino's score makes these movies that much better, his ability to combine 2-3 emotions into scenes w/ the score is amazing.

I remember being very frightened of the Owl in "The Secret of NIMH", the T-rex in "Land Before Time", and many other scenes/characters. I feel it's an important part of growing up. I think children are being far too pampered in today's generation.

i watched this last monday and it was really good.

there were some scenes where I actually cried. awesome kids movie but you still get to take something back from it as an adult.

They hire real writers instead of using people from the marketing department maybe? Seem to be what most producer are doing lately.
