I wasn't going to watch the video of the accident (I learnt my lesson years ago clicking on links to videos on the internet) but they showed it on CTV news tonight. Horrible, horrible, horrible. Certainly not an inducement to take up luge.

Luge & Skeleton are really dangerous. This track can get athletes up to 145 mph, on average tracks are 135 mph. New tracks 3% of racers crash or flip, which is normal for new tracks.

Why isn't there a speed limit for this? I think you shouldn't be able to go over 60 unless you are passing or in the carluge lane.

The whole team was considering leaving the Olympics because of this tragedy but they ended up staying. They didn't replace him with another athlete from their country though.
