Unless someone can show me a legitimate doctor's note or something that says they cannot control their weight due to a medical problem, I think fat people are just lazy and deserve every joke/unfair treatment they get.

Go do something about it. Get a personal trainer, go see a nutritionist, read up on how your metabolism works. Sure it may be harder for some due to genetic disposition, but no one said it would be easy. Life isn't fair.

I've had clerks give me shit for being just over the (now absurd) weight limit on my luggage, and I don't mean way over either, just tipping the scale and they want me to pay some absurd amount for it due to "fuel costs" or some other bullshit meanwhile there's a fatty whose tits alone weigh more than my luggage standing right behind me.

Lucky to never sit next to one, though actually I can't recall seeing many on the flights I've taken. Maybe we stick them in the cargo holds in the EU.

Blanket statements like this are just retarded. What about people on food stamps and people who are poor? Food that is bad for you tends to be cheaper (as someone else already mentioned). One big example is white bread, which costs much less than whole wheat breads and is much worse for you. Fruits and vegetables also tend to be more expensive than fatty snacks. And do you think someone who is on food stamps is going to go to Whole Foods and buy organic foods? You think they are going to go to a personal trainer? A nutritionist?

Now, people with the means to do these things should. I'm a bit overweight, hence why I run/workout six days a week, eat healthy meals and stay away from fast food and soda. Now, I could be blamed for my weight gain. I gained the freshman 15 when I got to school and gained a little more on top of that. I am doing something about it though. But to say that every overweight person is to blame for their weight is pretty ignorant.

And to those asking why Kevin Smith didn't buy first class tickets, he explained in his podcast that Southwest doesn't have a first class option. It's like a bus.

I definitely agree. I just think that people should acknowledge that not everyone who is overweight has the same resources. Someone who is poor is not going to be able to go to a nutritionist or personal trainer, or join a gym. Also, if people work multiple jobs that further cuts down on time that they might be able to exercise.

The point regarding jobs is perhaps one of the most important. Usually, people in poverty who actually do work are already wearing themselves down through physical labor, which can introduce a multitude of complications that wear away at their health (e.g., inhalation of chemicals). When the day is through, they're too exhausted to do anything else. Beyond that, some of the articles I linked previously go into detail about food-related expenses, as well, and the quality of food available, which makes it even more challenging for them to eat well.

However, anyone who is of decent health and has the time to exercise should. That's why I haven't any sympathy for Kevin Smith, whose predicament started this entire thread. He's stated that all he does is sit around, smoke marijuana, and eat. It's obvious why he's so overweight, and there's no excuse for it whatsoever. As much as I appreciate his acting, writing, and directing -- for the most part, anyway -- I'm not very sympathetic to his plight.
