No question.
1) delta should known better by recognizing who they were dealing with.
2) smith needs to shed his jersey-boy roots when he has the cash to not be an ass to the guy next to him on a plane, he can be a down to earth working class hero by driving a used jeep to the set of his next movie...
Dryr doesnt recognize who he is dealing with.
The issue is, unfortunately, the body has a sort of weight thermostat that gets set pretty early on in life and is very difficult to adjust. Most of the time, the poor eating habits and sedentary lifestyle a lot of children are allowed to get away with lock their metabolism into "fat slob" mode before they're even in high school. That usually doesn't catch up with them until puberty is over and they discover 40 hour work weeks.
Yes, it is true that a 300lb dude could diet and exercise hardcore for a year and lose 125lbs. The issue is, if he doesn't continue to eat that same low level of calories and continue to work out just as many hours, his body will actually hold onto calories and actively try to get back up to 300lbs.
And when you actually look at the amount of exercise it takes to counter bad eating habits, you realize that the level of work required is astounding and often insurmountable no matter how committed one might be. For instance, to burn off the calories from ONE large chocolate chip cookie, you need to JOG (not brisk walk) about one mile. To burn one pound of weight is to burn about 10 cookies. That's 10 miles jogging per pound lost weight (on top of what is needed just to burn off the 2000 daily calories he gets to eat with his diet). How many miles do you think a 300lb dude can jog before his knees tear themselves apart?
Obesity is a serious problem, and Americans are too complacent about our collective fatness. However, it's ignorant to say that morbidly obese people must be lazy if they haven't lost the weight. Most of the time, it starts when the kid is 8 and being fed pizza, chicken fingers and orange drink.
I'm not gonna sit here and preach to the fat[m]asses to start exercising or that they are jeopardizing their health; they can do w/e the fuck they want. However, when it starts to affect others then it's game on. Hey listen, the chances of surviving a plane crash are slim to none, but if I happen to survive the last I want is a lazy slob to be blocking my way. When I pay for a plane ticket I expect to be somewhat comfortable. By that I mean not having some fat dude's belly right up my cheek that I can't breath. Yes, we both are flying coach, but does that mean I should be getting the short end of the stick?
Our collective fatness? Speak for your damn self fatty, I'm in perfectly fine shape and have no problems working out a little extra after a few beers. What you're saying in regards to your whole post is akin to stating fat people might as well not bother, it's "too many miles."Originally Posted by Nekio
Seriously? Are you really that ignorant? I have a BMI of like 23. The average American BMI is closer to 30 (>25 is considered overweight, >30 is obese). [Ogden et al, 2004, http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/data/ad/ad347.pdf]
Americans are fat. Our schools have vending machines full of soda and candy. Fast food is a staple. Most adults exercise for a full half hour less than once a week. Congrats on your healthy lifestyle and the resulting lower risk of diabetes and heart disease. You're a minority.
Don't put words in my mouth. I never said obese people shouldn't try to lose weight. For one, exercise and healthy diet reduce a person's risk of cardiovascular disease, diabetes and all-cause mortality independent of weight loss. Secondly, all I said was that the nature of the disease makes overcoming obesity extremely difficult. Comparing losing 100 pounds to burning off a weekend of binge drinking is the type of analogy morons make when they have no fucking clue how the human body works. Oh, did I fail to mention that I'm a fucking primary care physician with training in biochemistry and nutrition? The only thing that is more important for me to address with my patients than their weight is smoking. Learn to pick your battles better, idiot.
A better analogy would be to compare a morbidly obese person trying to lose weight to your "perfectly fine" self attempting to buff up enough to play as a professional linebacker. When you fucking fail miserably, we can all point out how lazy you are.
Stop bering fat, fatty.
Anyone esle find it funny that he has a movie coming out soon? Any press is good press i guess. Also funny that someone who plays the "Silent Bob" character has so much to say all of the sudden.................
Also, who cares if you are fat, eat another fucking cheeseburger, tubby.
Fatties need to relax and just drown themselves in ice cream or whatever comforts their tortured souls, jeez!
EDIT: Oh, and I'm a level 75 RDM/THF/DRK/BLU/WAR/DRG picking my battles decisively with my 8-Inch cock while playing with my bitches tits up in da clubs, etc. insert rl crap here.
the new smodcast has smith talking with the girl he was with on the ride home. funny stuff
