I bought 3 pairs of these when they came out. I am on my 2nd now, using my 1st to actually skate in.
Edit: I have other pairs of shoes but these are my absolute favorite because they are very comfortable and light to skate in, limited edition design, and were extremely limited in quantity. To this day I haven't seen anyone with the same pair, people always ask me where I bought them.
Back in my early 20's I used to be as addicted to fashion as Wop (though, probably not nearly as rich) so I don't feel like blaming him entirely and in fact I still spend a fortune on griffed clothes and collectibles such as rare 90's J.League shirts, Jay's and so forth, however odds are that his 8000 US $, "Made in Italy" or whatever purse/handbag was made with rather cheap materials (cheap as in it costs them about 30 Euros, design process expenses aside) by enslaved chinese immigrants who work 18~20 hrs/day and live in sub-human conditions, amassed in lousy warehouses.
...and no, I'm not talking about "fakes", this is the real deal.
Here's some extracts from a shocking journalistic enquiry concerning the shady stuff behind the production of high-end fashion clothes/accessories which popped up a few years ago on the italian national television:
Watch this from 4:09 onward...Burberry, Dior, Fendi, Chanel, D&G, Richmond
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R3tzSIevyj0
...and @ 5:11 they're showing a "Bottega Veneta" purse which looks an awful lot like the one Wop linked a few pages back (apparently the factory gets paid 20 Euro to assemble each one of them while the official retail price is 3.500 Euro, rofl).
@ 5:40 Bottega Veneta, Dior, Jil Sander and Jimmy Choo shoes manufactured by chinese immigrants; they aren't fakes since documents proving the direct relationship between the brands and the workshop were shown during the video.
Case in point (straight quotes from the reportage original script, I haven't translated them though, I'm merely copy&paste'ing from the RAI website):
...thus, as long as it's a subsidiary dealing with them and not the brand representatives themselves they won't care, lol.FINANCE POLICEMAN Good morning... the proprietor?
QUALITY INSPECTOR - PRADA No, I‟m the Prada inspector.
CIRO NATALE – LT. COL., FINANCE POLICE Oh, good morning! The Prada inspector? Yes, and you arrived in a hurry, didn‟t you?
QUALITY INSPECTOR - PRADA I have to make an inspection so they can ship the handbags.
CIRO NATALE – LT. COL., FINANCE POLICE alright, we didn‟t know that, it was quite the pleasant coincidence. So you can give us a moment...
ITALIAN JOURNALIST Since they have been working on the handbags for months, you've never realized they were all illegal?
QUALITY INSPECTOR - PRADA I don‟t ask that.
Whether it's a legit italian leathercrafter doing the job or an underpaid illegal chinese immigrant, they don't give a fuck, all they care for is saving cash on the production process by exploiting an old-ass law which deemes anything manufactured within italian borders as worthy of the "Made In Italy" label, regardless of the quality of the process itself. gg.
links:SABRINA GIANNINI Excuse me, I‟d like to know the price of this, to see it a bit better, if possible.
SHOPGIRL – PRADA This costs 440 Euro, it‟s the largest “piattina” model we make.
SABRINA GIANNINI You mean this one here... 440?
SHOPGIRL – PRADA Yes.
SABRINA GIANNINI But it‟s only plastic, isn‟t it?
SHOPGIRL – PRADA Yes, nylon... nylon plus parts in leather.
SABRINA GIANNINI Good grief... 440 euro just for nylon…
SHOPGIRL – PRADA You had never bought our “piattine”? They‟re truly indestructible.
SABRINA GIANNINI They‟re called... “piattine”?
SABRINA GIANNINI Well, the fact that they‟re indestructible is the least you could ask considering what they cost... But tell me, how much did a handbag like this one cost you in labor?
PROPRIETOR OF HANDCRAFTING SHOP, ARZANO – NAPLES Well, it depends on the bags...
SABRINA GIANNINI Like that one there in plastic, for example.
PROPRIETOR OF HANDCRAFTING SHOP, ARZANO – NAPLES 30 euro.
SABRINA GIANNINI Show me a document proving it. How do you set it at 30 euro, on the basis of the labor?
PROPRIETOR OF HANDCRAFTING SHOP, ARZANO – NAPLES Yes.
SABRINA GIANNINI Because it takes them how long?
PROPRIETOR OF HANDCRAFTING SHOP, ARZANO – NAPLES No, they‟re set prices that they give us.
SABRINA GIANNINI Fabric plus... that?
PROPRIETOR OF HANDCRAFTING SHOP, ARZANO – NAPLES Yes.
SABRINA GIANNINI What does the “yes” mean?
PROPRIETOR OF HANDCRAFTING SHOP, ARZANO – NAPLES Yes, that type of fabric, that type of leather, and this is the actual price.
SABRINA GIANNINI Which? You mean, they give you 30 euro?
PROPRIETOR OF HANDCRAFTING SHOP, ARZANO – NAPLES No, 26... this one here is the actual price.
SABRINA GIANNINI OFF-SCREEN
A production price that is decidedly low. Patrizio Bertelli, Miuccia Prada‟s husband and the company president, decided not to grant an interview. An industrialist of

his caliber could have easily answered the following question: is it the proprietor of the Neapolitan shop the one exploiting his workers, or is it Prada that pays too little and, right from the start, must realize that at these prices it is possible to produce only under certain conditions?

I'm telling you, high fashion is just clever businessmen trolling rich people willing to waste money on severely overpriced stuff out of boredom.
