If you walked into the board room at General Electric, I doubt they'll notice the difference between $700 shoes and $150 shoes. Do the people care more about excessive fashion or your ability to do whatever it is that you do? Unless you're going into modeling, then, good for you. If you honestly believe you need them, then go for it bro, but I'm a firm damn believer that you don't spend excessively unless you have a damn good need for it, even if you have more than enough to afford it.

If someone has the money what is the problem? First impressions are huge psychologically, I'd wager in most cases where something like this is necessary the guy wearing an expensive outfit is going to be looked upon better than someone who went the cheap route (even if it's still nice, just not designer or whatever). I'm sure "well if the guy who spent less looks as good or close to as good isn't he the smarter one?" will be brought up, but again if the expense is within your limits I believe that is a moot point.
