Well, in my opinion it's easy for any tank class to tank heroics. Especially now with how much Tier 9 overgears you for any heroic dungeon, and how easy it is to get. If you care about not sucking you can always get carried as a DPS and spend your badges on tank stuff until you have enough HP and avoidance to tank reliably.
Druid's tradeoff is that they never will avoid or mitigate as much as a warrior or paladin, which is why they have an expanded health pool. In my experience playing tanking classes, paladin is the easiest just for the AoE abilities and their huge EH advantage over the other classes.
Finally, shields aren't that hard to get. Titansteel shield wall is a craftable epic and does just fine until you farm normal HoR for splintered door of the citadel.
So you don't see a problem with someone having to farm regular 5-mans, getting 3 emblems per 20 minutes with mostly baddies who aren't queueing for random heroics and getting 4-6 emblems per 15-20min just for a drop at a shield upgrade?
People running the normal 5-mans are mostly bad at 80, and queues may not even be instant for tanks there because there should be far less people doing it.
It is FAR FAR easier to gear up a druid tank, since I'm now at 40k unbuffed health and tanked a few bosses in ICC in less than a week and I even have quite a few more upgrades from emblems of triumph to get as I haven't farmed heroics that much. I also have two professions without passive +stam on them so if I was mining/JC or something I'd be at 42k unbuffed or so.
Also druids mitigate fine really. Especially in ICC, savage defense has almost full uptime and works like a shield block so every attack is going to be dodge/miss/savage defense.
talk about warrior tanks more. (no sarcasm also)
leveling a warrior with a friend and I plan on making her a tank. never tanked before either cept for vanilla wow dungeons and BC 5mans.
I don't plan on raiding or anything like that just heroics~ used to the healing roles (druid, pally and holy/disc priest) from what I gather, tanking 5mans as warrior is pretty cake if you're not a moron?
Tanking anything is cake if you're not a moron. In fact, doing just about anything in WoW is cake if you're not a moron.
Warriors have a large toolbox, you only need a few skills to actually do your job but to master being a warrior you have quite a few more things you need to figure out how to use. This is mostly the charges, using charge, intercept and intervene well can really change how you play the class. This of course doesn't really come into play until you can spec warbringer (50ish I think?) but a good warrior will ping pong around if the situation calls, no other tank has that mobility and taking advantage of that can solve a lot of issues most warriors have. Which is why only bad warriors QQ about warrior tanking.
All I can ever think while playing a warrior is BOINGDY BOINGDY BOINGDY BOINGDY
OMFG I'm in love with Bornakk.

Q u o t e:
First of all, you know I love you guys. A good tank/healer combo is awesome.
/hug
Q u o t e:
However, there have been a few... minor issues lately, and I thought I'd clear the air.
First of all, please give me a couple seconds when we zone in to buff everyone and get ready before you pull every mob in the place. It's kind of a pain to get there and find the tank is in the middle of 15 mobs and half dead before I've even cleared the instance gate.
I can be a pretty generous guy so I usually wait to see the healer move and know they aren't still just zoning in. The initial trash pulls tend to be very weak and since I can probably last through them with no healing, I like to get moving. Yes, I like beating that 15 minute timer.
Q u o t e:
Next, please don't run two rooms ahead of me and pull. You may have "improved vroom vroom" that makes you run 10x faster than everyone else, but I don't, and I can't heal you through walls or when you've run up two flights of stairs and I'm still chugging my way up. It's called LoS, and it's a b*tch.
I know this can be a bit daunting at first, but believe me when I say that I am a decked out uber heroic farming tanking machine. I time things out pretty well and often have my cooldowns available so as long as you keep running I won't be anywhere close to dead when you are in range.
Q u o t e:
Also, if I manage to find the time to type "mana" through all your chain pulling, it isn't an advertisement for how healing works. It means I'd like you to stop a sec and let me drink something. I'm leveling, my gear isn't the best, and (especially if you're having trouble holding aggro) sometimes I run low.
At what point do you usually ask for this? I tend to monitor my healer's mana (and ignore the dps), but if you still have 50% mana or more I feel we can keep moving. I also feel that drinking to fill up mana right before a boss makes much more sense than the 1 trash pack before it that we should kill in ~15 seconds.
Q u o t e:
On that note, if you don't know how or are unable to hold aggro, are in DPS gear/spec, have no points in damage mitigation whatsoever, and/or are just queuing as a Tank because the line moves faster, please don't. See, the Tank and I have kind of a special relationship, and you pretending to be a Tank just causes bad feelings. So either go back to your DPS queues or learn how to tank.
In case I haven't made it clear by now, I rock. I love my healers and they love me.
Q u o t e:
Thanks for listening!
Sorry, was tanking the next pack. What was that again?
blue= bornakk talking obv
are you guy seriously this butthurt about heroics? 2 weeks ago i was literally in only greens and a few blues. in 2 weeks time i've managed to get 2 pieces of triumph t9.5, 2 pieces of t9, 2 piece furious, have 59 emblems of frost and have ran icc 0 times aside from downing marrowgar once last week for the weekly, reign of the unliving, leveling engineering from 1-405, leveling enchanting 1-405, getting bejewled wizard's bracer's crafted, have a gs of 5116 and have an average item level of 232.
wanna know how many times this tank shit has happened to me? once. the tank skipped the 2 bosses in OK and said fuck me even though i said i needed the badges. want to know what i did? killed volajaz(sp?) and requeued because it's 2 fucking badges. people need to stop looking at these triumph badges as 'every little one counts' because it really doesn't.
i will say though that queueing as dps is fucking terrible and you should find a tank on your server so it makes it instant if you want to do it right.
While I obviously can't speak for anybody else, I'm neither butthurt nor losing sleep over it, but it doesn't make them any less of a self-righteous dick for behaving that way in the first place.
I shitlist people who need on frost orbs too, not because it matters or because I really wanted the orb (it was just 5g to vendor in my eyes), but because of the principle of it.
I've only had it happen once on my mage that I can recall, and it was actually some idiot that wanted me not to *aoe*. After me standing there doing nothing for a few pulls and him realizing the other 2 dps were terrible, he started using pest and dnd and we finished the dungeon in 15 minutes instead of 13.
Insta, 5mins dungeons = Have a pretty geared (doesn't have to be a 6k gs crazy ass motherfucker) ret pally and a healer who knows how to hit 1, 2, 3, and maybe 4. Queue and tank and healer. 5mins later you have 4-8badges and some gold and maybe some enchanting materials. Divine storm in AoE pulls is /broken/. I pretty much kept my friend alive via riptide. WHo needs tanks.
wow has been this way forever, seriously.
oh and you know what i did to that faggot tank who made me skip the other bosses? needed everything and netted a nice 40g and a frozen orb. it's basically the other way to completely fuck them over. the other players didn't get anything? sucks dude, shoulda needed some triumph badges!
dog eat dog is the only way to survive in wow without being mad at everyone
No, I don't really. Just like I didn't see a problem with farming normal ToC to get my Black Heart trinket. It's a normal dungeon - you can repeat it as many times as you want per day. And hey, if you're so concerned about wasted time, just leave the dungeon and requeue if the boss doesn't drop what you want. Not saying I condone that, but it's an option. It took me a grand total of 4 HoR runs (no wipes) to get my shield and 3 ToC runs (again no wipes) to get the Black Heart.
And Savage Defense was certainly put in the game to make up for the lack of block that Druid has. I never said they couldn't mitigate or avoid well - just not as well as paladin or warrior. Take ToGC for example.. they're the only ones who can achieve unhittable and solo tank Anub adds.
So yeah, I'm not trying to be all rah rah for warriors and paladins or anything, but I think it's equally easy for any tank class to gear up considering how easy it is to faceroll heroics and get a ton of badges. I think saying druid is "far far easier" to gear up is a bit misleading. I hit 80 a bit over 2 weeks ago and I'm maxed on badge gear after playing casually. In the end I don't think it matters much - Blizzard seems to be increasingly trying to balance all the tanking classes.
I didn't say I'd leave, I'm just saying I know who to avoid based on this kind of behavior lol
Nothing in this game is worth ragequitting over
Maybe that's why I have a fairly even temperament about the whole thing, I flat out refuse to arena lol

You name the most gimmick fight post-Ulduar for why warriors and paladins mitigate more? Add tanking was designed for a shield tank, simple as that, not a big deal.
It is 100% easier to gear up a druid tank. They just need leather gear and can use tank or dps offpieces. Warriors and paladins need to be using tanking gear in just about every slot to get into a raid, which are far more rare and harder to find. You will find epic leather for every slot in heroics, there are no tanking bracers other than 200 from OK and 213 from SIXTY emblems. As mentioned the only shield between 200 and ToC is from a normal 5-man not as many people farm.
Druids can utilize more gear for a suitable tank set, so it's far easier to initially gear them up, hands down no question.
Edit: It appears farming the shield may be far more annoying than I am making it sound in this thread, so read this thread: http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/th...29142895&sid=1
