Chipper's 1 for his last 25 in hitting, and has been playing a terrible third base. Ugh. :/

Cole Hamels hitting 95 on the gun tonight. Where's this guy been?
Cholly needs to take the whole staff aside and teach them how to bunt. I've never seen so many failed sacrifices in my life, and its already cost us a run tonight.
Earnie Harwell passed away today![]()
Lincecum has 11 strikeouts through 5 innings so far. Is everyone ready to admit that he's the best pitcher in baseball yet?
Another shot by Heyward.
Harang.
PHIL HUGHES
wait, we aren't just naming our favorite pitchers?
and again, if you mostly talk stats, it's all about Jimenez. He has nearly half of his team's wins doesn't he?
Yep.
6-0 In six starts, .87 era, 1.02 whip
He said Lincecum is the best pitcher in baseball. If we were only talking this season, the answer would be Ubaldo.
Halladay has pitched 49 innings to Lincecum's 42.1, that is basically a start's worth of innings which really helps the bullpen.
So now a manager's decision to go to his bullpen or what the situation may be, makes you a better pitcher, noted.
Also, if I had an unpredictable pen like the phillies, I would leave Halladay in much longer as well. He is pitching a little over an inning more a game, this obviously makes him the best.
Wrong. Lasting longer in games because you are more efficient makes you a better pitcher. A strikeout pitcher like Lincecum usually doesn't last as long as a guy like Halladay who pitches more to contact, cause it takes more pitches to get Ks. Halladay has thrown 14 less pitches than Lincecum in 6 2/3 more innings.
We are comparing the best pitchers in baseball, there is some hair-splitting involved. However, there is a significant difference in having a guy throwing an extra inning per game. That is an extra reliever who can rest and 3 less outs for your bullpen to blow a lead. Halladay has 3 complete games already, with only 1 run allowed (0 ER). The whole bullpen gets to rest those days - this is a huge help to a staff over the course of a season. Lincecum is no slouch, but he is also no Halladay.Originally Posted by Kyo
I don't think there's a stat that adjusts your stats based on the league you play in, either. I believe ERA+ takes park factors into account, but it's been pretty apparent just how weak the NL is compared to the AL. That said, Halladay dominated the AL East as much as anyone ever has.
