The Mets haven't played well at Turner field for as long as I can remember. But still, the lack of any off-season pitching acquisitions was and still is very puzzling. With Niese injured and Ollie in the pen, I can't say I even know who their 3rd 4th and 5th starters are. Combined that with Wright's incredible strikeout rate, Bay not hitting with RISP or for power, and Frenchy's horrible slump and they're just not a very competitive team right now.

Oh, and they're picking a horrible time to play the Yankees and Phillies back to back.

The only consolation really, is that they've played very well at home to start the season. That said I really didn't think Ollie had it since the year started regardless of the excuses that gave him. Maine is actually pitching well, excluding his last start he's starting to get comfortable. His last start however makes things very troubling. Now with Niese expected to miss 1-2 starts we just don't have quality pitchers and it's killing us. I do think Takahashi is going to shine given the opportunity because of the work out of the pen, but with Maine and Niese both regressing what is there to do?

The whole team looks lost at the plate right now except for Castillo and Barajas. I for the life of me can't figure out why either. I know that Wright hasn't been the same since the beaning, but how could that one event really be to blame for his completely lost look at the plate despite power coming back? As good as the season started, unless we can turn things around this week, there's really no signs that point upward. It's a shame really, but maybe it'll finally get this faggot Minaya out of the front office.

My offense is terrible. I picked a good time to bench Beckett.

I'm calling it right now that Takahashi will shut out the Yankees over 7 innings. They never hit garbage (as in what they throw, not what he is) pitchers they haven't seen before. What happens after that is anyone's guess.

Regarding Wright, I think the ballpark has taken a toll on him emotionally. He wasn't hitting well at home even before he got beaned, and when they had their better lineups before everyone got hurt. I think it's gotten in his head that he's not going to hit any homers unless he pulls them down the line, and he's striking out a lot trying to extend himself and pull the ball. Then he goes on the road and smacks a ton of home runs like he did in Philly and Cincy, it's like he's a completely different player. In the Florida series I don't think he was that bad, he got a bunch of hits but the Ks are still there.

He only hit 5 HR on the road last year, 7 already this year.

Sorry, should have clarified that I was talking about this year when I mentioned him hitting homers on the road. He's hit 7 of his 8 homers this year on the road, in 5 less at-bats.

Marshall Harris(CSN Philly guy) has picked Roy Halladay as his standout star 3 times now. The Phillies have lost those 3 games and Halladay took a loss twice. Dear Marshall Harris. Don't make me write hate mail.

Sox may have saved their season just now. They really needed that. Tough loss for the Yanks.

Very bad loss for the Yankees tonight. They played like crap and thoroughly deserved this loss. Looking at the lineup, I'm not shocked. Looks like it is officially time to start worrying about the team.

lol ok, yes it was a bad loss, yes they played like crap, but worrying? And citing the lineup? The team is still 11 games over 500 and leads the league in most offensive statistics, you know. I chalk this game up to horrible conditions considering how sloppy both teams pitched/played.

Not trolling, just concerned about the team is all. Watching 3 players I have barely heard of up at the bottom of the lineup in crucial situation is a bit unsettling.

    Conditions sucked badly

My first time at yankee stadium, cheering on the red sox...... and it was freezing, strong winds at random times and there was never a lack of rain.

Awesome game to watch, ballpark was missing like 10k people >.>

Nick Johnson is on the DL, Swisher is coming back most likely tomorrow, Posoda is coming back soon as well, bench players tried their best to fill in. Was one game loss, not the end of the world. Sloppy playing in a game with less than stellar weather conditions is understandable. Granted, had Joba, ya know, been able to get an out before giving up 4 runs in the top of the eighth, the game might have ended completely differently.

    True to that, fair enough.
