    Welp, didn't think we'd have chance after being down 4-0, but there's some fight in these Reds.

    Meh. Couldn't catch much of a break either. Whatever inning it was... Rollins Line Drive out sliding catch > Ibanez line drive > Ruiz line drive off pitcher who makes a spectacular play to get Chooch at first. Then in the 9th a wild as fuck Cubs closer who is all over then somehow has pin point control on another pitch.

    Oh well, great outing by Jamie Moyer. Probably would have thrown 6 or 7 shutout innings if it wasn't for two deflections off gloves that led to runs. Romero didn't look terrible, got a big strikeout but gave up a dinky grounder. Just one of those weird games I guess.

    Hopefully they'll put Posoda on the DL and maybe Thames on the 15 day then so we can call up two players on the bench, and have a bench again that isn't Pena. Posada isn't too bad a loss with the way Cervelli is playing at least.

    The ideal way the line up should be set up is with cerveli catching and posada DHing with granderson/switsher/gardner in the outfield and having nick johnson on the bench. We just haven't had the oppurtunity yet this season. They may have to call up a catcher cause they can't have cerveli playing ever game for 4 weeks.

    Also Jeter has not looked the same since taking that pich to the hand a couple weeks ago.

    Guys, don't worry about the Yankees unless they stay hurt into late September, especially with guys like Rivera and Posada. (IT'S POSADA FFS!) It's a marathon season. As long as they stay ahead of the Sox, they're fine.

    The only thing I was worried about is how the bench we currently have to replace an injury is filled with injured players that can't play with Thames going down tonight. I know they'll bounce back from this, but in the scenario of someone going down now in a game, there's literally no one to fill the void in that game now.

    They should be more concerned about the Toronto Home Runs than the Sox for the wild card spot.

    Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't the Jays start off on fire last year too before slowing down by the end of the season? I think it was the same way too. They got great pitching from unknown guys (at the time) and guys like Aaron Hill and Scutaro were having career years.

    Yes indeedy... Jays were 27-14 before going on a 9 game road trip and losing all 9 Went into a tailspin for the remainder of the season.

    Oddly enough, they just started on an 8 game road trip, but they took the first game, so already doing better!! ._.;

    No love for a triple play and an inside the park home run in the same game last night, Nats v Mets? Yet the Nats still won, lol.

    Your semi-regular Strasburg update: 6 1/3 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 2 W, 9 K

    His ERA on the year in the minors is 0.89...

    I was too upset that Fernando Nieve was in another game to mention it :<. Angel Pagan is making a very good case to play every day. If the Mets could, the smartest move might be that if Beltran shows he can hit, they trade him away for a pitcher or two and soldify that rotation up during the offseason. I think Beltran only has a year left on his contract anyway and Pagan has shown he can be our everyday CF.

    "Every-day Nieve" does have a nice ring to it...

    Can't trade Beltran. You'd be selling him for 25 cents on the dollar, and I don't think you could get any decent pitcher for a CF coming off a very serious knee injury, who is going to want a new contract when you sign him.

    I've been saying the same thing about Beltran for a while but as mentioned the problem is he's been hurt to damn much to have good value at this point. Right now trading him would be nothing more than a salary dump for the rest of this year and next. Plus he'd also have to approve the trade as he has a no-trade clause in his contract. In an ideal world I would trade him as soon as he comes back from his latest injury but I don't see it happening now.
