Regardless of everything that's happened the only thing the mets did right this offseason was adding depth. It's going to pay immediate dividends once they pull their heads out of their asses. Maine and Perez can't compete at their current levels and need to work on building their strength back up and relearning to throw strikes. UNfortunately the situation with Perez doesn't lend itself to that and so they need to just replace Maine. There would be another arm out there in Mejia if managed properly and it's difficult to see this turning around with how mismanaged the entire pitching situation has been this year. They need to realize their ideas for a staff were wrong from the start and make the right moves to save their season. It's really that simple. Even if the bats are cold, solid pitching keeps you in games. And we ain't got that now.

Edit:Man, wow after listening to John Maine's interview postgame that man is pissed and I cannot help but feel for him. They went out there didn't even give him a chance to explain himself. They saw an obvious difference in his delivery and instead of talking it over with John or giving him a chance to throw a warmup pitch they just yank him. As much as I like Maine because of his competitiveness, it's clear he's not totally back yet, but they aren't even given him a shot despite him showing signs that he's starting to get there again. I'll once again say that this management is killing our staff. So demoralizing.

Edit 2: OMG LOOOOL. Dan Warthen just called John Maine a habitual liar and implied that they can no longer trust him. Welp, I think that's the last time we're gonna see Maine out there.

What's the record for NL East teams before and after they faced the Phillies? Braves lose two out of three and go into a long losing streak. Mets win one game then the Phillies absolutely rape Santana and the Mets haven't been the same since. Nationals have actually played fairly well. What have the Marlins been up to besides the Ramirez drama(not rhetorical cause I'm really not sure)?

Marlins/Braves have both been hot and cold. Mets are good at home and terrible on the road. Nats have been pretty meh as of late, and hell.. Phillies have too, but with Rollins back, they'll heat up. Could run away with things.

I'm happy it's been the lead story instead of the Rays winning two over the Yankees lol

I haven't watched espn for that reason. Seeing the closeup of the ball on top of the glove breaks my heart.

Mike Leake was boss once again though.

How is it that inter-league play starts and the Braves get the Pirates? Though i can't complain i guess. Watch us get swept, i'm calling it now.

There are more teams in the NL than the AL so there will always be two NL teams playing each other.

Yeah it was rather dopey the way they handled the last expansion with Tampa and Arizona coming in. Arizona should have been put in the AL West to bring that division to five instead of the four they have and moved Houston from the currently 6 team NL Central to the NL West to keep both of those at five.

You can't do that - it creates an imbalance in both leagues. You'd then have days when everyone except 1 team in each league is playing each other. It either creates a scheduling nightmare to give each team a fair amount of off days, or you'd have to have year-round interleague games. A better solution would be to add 2 more teams to the AL... but with the economic climate and how unpopular baseball is in some areas of the country (especially the South) it's not going to happen any time soon.

Yeah, the Pirates always play Atlanta tough. That and they're a flukey team. They're either pretty good, or very bad.

Also, scheduling interleague is pretty terribad. The Sox get the Phillies, the Yankees get the Mets (not as terrible as).. the Rays getting the Astros? Really?

Then on another turn, the Phillies get the Orioles while the Braves get the Twins. Sounds like a blast.

Personally I just enjoy watching AL pitchers attempt to hit. Though any of the Rays' pitchers would have to be better hitters than Navarro. Jesus fuck he is horrible at hitting.

Repredicting Hamels perfect game, strikeouts in a game record, or no-no like I did earlier in the thread.

Edit: So much for a perfect game or no-no!

Yeah had a screw up there thinking there were 32 teams like in the NFL for some reason despite only being five teams to a division with what I posted. I sucked at math.

Anyways the Mets put Maine on the DL claiming shoulder weakness despite his claims that he hadn't seen a doctor today and called up another Omar favorite in Elmer Dessens.

I tell you what, Takahashi could pitch for my team. His stuff isn't all that great, but he throws a lot of strikes. That's how you beat the Yankees, anyway.

The man is brilliant. He knows how to pitch. They keep calling him a craftsman and that's exactly what he is. Gets ahead and then gets them out. Fucking great and badly needed start. What a pick up. He looks exactly how santana does when he's on. Just gets it done.

By the way I totally called the Yanks getting shut down by someone they've never seen before, but I'm pretty sure Takahashi does well against anyone pitching like that.

I walk through the front door after work, turn the TV on, and the first pitch I see is a 4 million foot bomb by Werth. Hopefully Cole can keep dealing and we can hold on for the win.

Mets training staff strikes again it seems with Maine. Maybe him and Delgado can trade notes while they recover.
