He will. That was one of the main reasons he was drafted that high and we won't have another option to play catcher next year. We just need to get his bat in the lineup anyway possible this year.

But I'm pretty sure I've heard from multiple places that Posey's catching ability is rather terrible and he was only brought up as of right now for the bat as you said. He still needs to get better at catcher before anything. Just play him at 1B!

He's an average catcher. Not Gold Glove quality, but certainly not terrible. We have a few catchers at the lower levels who may end up being pretty good, and Buster has the athleticism to literally play any position on the field. He may get moved a few years down the road, but we need his bat at catcher next year and we need to sign a first baseman who can be the 4-hole hitter that we desperately need.

There's really not a lot of 1B out there that can hit. Who knows, Glaus is looking decent, so maybe you guys can pick him up for a year.

Would the Giants move Pat Burrel to 1st base? Feel free to call me dumb if the Giants 1st basemen is performing well, cause I haven't really followed them.

As a Red Sox fan, I'm curious where everyone else ranks some of our players compared with others.

Kevin Youkilis? Obviously not better than Pujols, pretty close to Morneau... Teixiera can be better, but isn't right now.

Jon Lester? Once he gets going, not many pitchers are better than him. Where would you rank him? Hallday and Lincecum are better... Ubaldo Jiminez is better right now... Felix Hernandez is probably better, Greinke is close... I'd take Lester over Sabathia or Verlander...

JD Drew? He's a tough player to measure. By some metrics, he's one of the top 3-5 OFers in the AL. By others, he's an overpaid, underachiever. He's injured a lot, and Ichiro and Carl Crawford instantly pop into my mind as better. Granderson has more power, but I think Drew gets on/scores a lot more. Austin Jackson could be better than Drew. Vernon Wells is putting up insane numbers this year, but usually winds up sucking... How do you value JD Drew (salary aside)?

Clay Buchholz? Future ace? Middle of the rotation guy? Overhyped?

Nothing to say here except god damn I hate his stupid batting stance. Looks like he's trying to clench something between his buttcheeks and he does that little hip wiggling thing and just looks like a goddamn faggot. Ugh. I can't stand watching him bat.

Youk is a top 5 ballplayer, the problem is he's way more valuable as a 3B. Right now he's playing a position that has tons of talent. Also he's a OBP guy with power, he's not a prototypical clean up man. He's much more a 3 or 5 hole hitter. I guess what I'm trying to say is yes he's good, but the Red Sox aren't using him in a way that maximizes his talent. Not saying that's a bad thing, because the team comes first, but when talking about individuals it's a factor.

Lester is a top pitcher when he's on, no question about that. But, the two guys you said you'd take him over (CC and Verlander) are just as unhittable when they're on. He has to be more consistent, especially in the beginning of the year, to be listed as one of the league's best.

JD Drew is where you're just pretty much wrong. He's nowhere near a top player. His problem is really that when he's going good, he walks but not much else. He has occasional power, but his power seems to come when he's slumping, as strange as that sounds. For a guy that was brought in and expected to hit 30 homers and have a OBP of .400, he just hasn't fit the bill.

Jury's still out on Buchholz. Sometimes he looks good, sometimes he walks the ballpark. Need a few more seasons where he starts 30 games before you can say one way or the other. Same with Hughes or any other young pitcher.

Someone test Ortiz for some HGH. I honestly wouldn't be surprised.

Also, Howard has 32 hr's in 60 career games against Atl, fuuuuck.

Man, 3 straight ND for Mike Leake. He could easily be 11-0....

It's okay, nobody on the Phillies remembers how to hit.

We know how to hit, so far anyways, just not when our awesome rook is up.

When things are going bad, everything seems so bad. I know that Joe Blanton isn't Tommy Hanson, but for almost two weeks it seems like everything the Phillies hit is weak, late, foul, neutered. Everything the opponents hit is smoked (minus the Roy Halladay perfect game). Phillies come out and fizzle, Chipper Jones suddenly finds a power stroke.

Man, Chipper looked bad on that homerun. Completely fooled and just got good wood on it.

Wouldn't say that was a power stroke as much as a "Gotta put wood on it" swing

and Hanson's struggled as of late anyway.

After last year's playoffs it's amazing that C.B. Bucknor is still a major league umpire.
