How bout them first place Bravos? It's a shame Yunel and McLouth are hitting so incredibly badly right now, the rest of our offense is pretty solid with Glaus playing well.
The only reason they are in 1st by a half a game is because the Phillies are in a slump. Hanson shouldn't have made it past the 3rd or 4th inning but the Phillies forgot how to play baseball. You should remember when the Braves went into that 9 game losing streak.
Braves were in a slump for the entire month of April.
Philly fans are worried about 10 games?
Tbh, that makes it equally amazing that the Braves are where they are after losing 9 straight. Teams that go into those sort of runs are typically fucked, even if it's early in the year, just due to how much ground they have to make up.
I'm not worried, I'm frustrated. Watching them lose is one thing, but they're not even playing competitively.
(Aside from a perfect game in which they won because of an unearned run.)
balk off lol
Holy shit the mets are getting obliterated by the padres, the god damn padres.
Even if they are in first place they rank 14th in hrs, runs and rbis. That game just blew my mind.
Well it's not like they scored them all off of homers or anything. Didn't the Mets walk home a fair share, and then there were some singles up the middle that scored multiple runs. I know there was a grand slam in there, but it's not like they'll score 18 a night.
Mets: 10 games below .500 on the road/10 games above .500 at home
I wonder which one is going to equalize there. I'd bank on them starting to lose more games at home before they win more on the road. It's not like the team is built for Citi Field really.
Thing is, at home they get clutch hits and the pitchers can get away with occassional mistakes because it wont kill them. That's the difference right now. Mistakes on the road go for 2 run hrs or more, couple of 1st inning grandslams, at citi they're deep fly balls. That said guys like Bay and Barajas make citi look small with the kind of shots they hit last homestand. I just can't understand why bay got hot, and then cooled off the very next game. Even Jose Reyes took a shot out to right center into the bullpens last homestand. I dunno it's really frustrating seeing them take advantage of their home ballpark and then get smashed on the road, in a similar park.
For those who expected .300-30-100-.400, yes, he's been a huge flop.
On the other hand, this season he ranks 11th among AL OFers in runs scored, 4th in RBI, 12th in doubles, 11th in home runs, 7th in walks, despite a putrid April.
In 2009, he ranked 3rd among AL OFers in OBP and OPS, 4th in SLG,
In 2008, he ranked 3rd among AL OFers* in OPS, 2nd in OBP and 5th in SLG, although he missed a lot of time with injuries - so he did not qualify for the league leader list. These stats reflect a minimum of 450 PA.
He usually puts up fantastic percentages, but less than fantastic "stats", due to lack of plate appearances (never seems to hit big plateaus, like 40 doubles, 30 HR, 100 RBI, etc).
Braves are sort of like that too. 11 above at home, 4 below on the road.
Alex Rios not even in the top 15 in ASG balloting, and he's arguably the best WAR OF in the AL this year

MLB All Star Game voting has already been confirmed for stupid.
Suzuki is going to make it every year, I don't know why people keep voting for him, but then again I vote for an all-Yankee infield so what do I know
