Anyone know what the sports talk station is in Detroit? I bet that's going to be some fun listening tomorrow at work.
Leyland is giving him a pass, he's even sneaking in some 'no one feels worse than Jim Joyce' lines
I'm pretty sure Armando feels worse than Joyce does
One thing I don't get is that I would have assumed most umps would call a borderline call out in that situation since it would be a lot lower risk if he were to blow it. (and no, I'm not calling that a borderline call)
Yeah, Ryany. I thought that's how most Umps do, but as Joyce's wiki page says... Haha.
Seeing Armando's face as he tagged first base when he though he had it, and then right after was terrible lol...I'd have argued the shit out of that call until I got tossed D:
And that inning had one of the best plays of the year, and the worst call of the year so far..
Like I said, one of the worst calls (due to the situation) I've ever seen. Sure there's been plenty of calls with bang-bang plays that were close and the umps missed it.. but nothing like this one. Just the situation makes it terrible.
But yeah, seeing his face go from elated to "you're kidding me.." .. just crazy.
Who's ready for instant replay in baseball?
Thank you Krod for giving Johan yet another no decision on a blown save. Krod has looked terrible this year overall compared to other closers the mets have faced. Gahhh.
And this is why baseball is the worst sport in america. I can think of two other commissioners that would say "fuck the tradition, I'm changing this call". Selig will say "It's been a part of baseball for over a hundred years". Enjoy the slow death baseball.
I actually watched this game and I don't like baseball. What's funny is my facebook wall exploding with things about the stolen perfect game, and the ump.
They are interviewing Armando now... gah they need to stop bringing it up, it's depressing me.
Disgraceful. Truly sad day for the game.
His Wiki page has been locked due to vandalism.
Great example. I mean, it's not like a blown call in football (a sport with instant replay!) cost a team a playoff game just a couple years ago or anything. Or like there was a huge scandal in the NBA where the refs were betting on games. Yeah, the other sports are just fine and always get it right.
baseball haters OUT
Big difference between that (tuck rule game?) and this game. Changing this call has NO bearing on the final outcome of the game. It's much much much easier to change this call.
Fucking LOL @ using Donaghy. Yeah, I'm sure if Stern would have known about that, nothing would have happened. He would have twiddled his thumbs.
Also, NBA refs rig the playoffs for the Celt/Lakers.
Also, the NBA goes back and changes egregious calls. It allowed Perkins to play in Game 6 of the Eastern FInals. Try again.
