Yeah, that's true, but it seems lately, guys are getting compared to actual greats who proved themselves. Guys like Heyward getting compared to Hank Aaron with his sound off the bat (I mean come on..), then this Harper guy, Strasburg..etc.

I'll say this, it's been a long time since we've seen this much hype for rookies. The nice thing is that there are a LOT of young players coming up and making an impact this year. Heyward has shown he belongs. Ike Davis has been in the big leagues a month and already is a core part of the Mets. Strasburg has blown through the minors and looks like the real deal. Stanton is coming up with all the fanfare. To me it's great for the sport to have guys come up and try to live up to the hype.

The NBA and NFL have hyped players for sure, but with the MLB draft and scouting being such a crapshoot, to have a guy come up and be an impact player right away is really fun to watch.

Astros take Delino Deshields Jr. 8th overall. Kid went to my HS and is a fucking freak physically. He was in the 900 lb club as a freshman, it always depressed me when I went to the weight room. Apparently he was a pretty big reach at 8th overall though because no one is sure if he is committed to baseball(he had signed to play baseball and maybe football at LSU) but doubt he will pass up #8 money.

I hate to say it, because I think he's overrated, but when is Jimmy coming back healthy? I just want this team to start looking like they give a shit again. Which is not to say they don't care, but they just can't seem to get it together on offense. They're wasting some really solid pitching.

Hamels is pitching well, no doubt, but why is Hamels still in the game at 121 pitches..?

He was coasting until the 7th. Dunno. A lot of relievers got used yesterday. I dunno. Baseball is pissing me off. They can't do anything right lately. It's not that they're losing or that they lost first place, they're just playing so lifeless.

Second day in a row the Phillies rally in the 9th and Jayson Werth strikes out to Heath Bell to end it. I'm gonna get a hot bath, wash away the fail, and open up a couple of veins.

gg Lowe. How do you stop a poor scoring streak over a bit of time? You throw Derek Lowe at the opposing team. That should help in most cases.

Doesn't help that Haren's the opposing pitcher either. Ugh.

Shame I benched Haren tonight but he doesn't look much more in control than lowe did. He'll prolly get a win out of it though.

Utley got a pitch that went above his ahead and didn't even get pissed let alone move. The last time someone threw near his head he sent a bomb into the seats at AT&T park. Not that I think either pitch was intentional but still.

It's gonna be hard for the Phillies pitching to get much better than this and it's pretty fanfuckingtastic right now. The offense needs to return the favor and get some fucking runs.

Oh yeah and speaking of the draft, the Phillies drafted Jesse Biddle. Local kid, LHP, and they said he's been clocked at 96. Not trying to hype him up or anything but it's neat when players from your teams city gets drafted. How many active players play(ed) for their hometown teams?
