The control really didn't come later. Maybe 3rd inning he was really "on" with his pitches. He was pretty all over the map the first two. After that though, he was just doing whatever the hell he wanted. The scary part was, like you said, it was another day at the office--he knew he could do it.

If he does end up wild in a start though, hitters have to let him bury himself with walks. However, it doesn't seem like he's afraid at all pitching to contact even if he does fall way behind. I don't see him giving away many free passes with his approach.



If you are talking about the HR he gave up, I'd argue that wasn't even a mistake. He had the hitter out in front on the change and the pitch was diving below the knees. It might have been a little more center-cut than he would've liked, but that thing was just poked over the fence. Just have to tip your hat to that and realize that's the difference between the Bigs and AAA.

Yeah, well it was the only hittable pitch that he really threw so. Again I think he's going to be a star if he doesn't wear out his arm, but I'm sure he's not going to strike out 14 a night like most people believe he's going to.

That's pretty amazing. I don't think that anyone who truly follows baseball thinks Jesus will strike out 14 every 7 innings (translates to 18 per 9, lol). But 10 or 11 is reasonable.

The funny part is every time the kid talks, he says he's not a strikeout pitcher and is trying to get ground balls. I think that suits the Nats just fine, as they'd like to keep his pitch count low obviously (and high K pitchers tend to have higher pitch counts, by default). But could he really be striking out that many dudes without trying? lol

The Nats scoreboard has a K meter thing, but it only went up to 12. They had to roll it over because nobody had ever struck out that many in Nats park before. The old record was set by John Patterson, strangely, with 13.

He struck out 14 on just over 90 pitches...that alone is insane.

I do believe he is trying for grounders though more often than not. It seemed to me he was throwing his 2-seamer damn near exclusively throughout most of the game. He might not be trying to strike people out, but when you can throw that kind of fastball that hard, it's going to happen lol

Fox has moved the Saturday, June 19th home game against the White Sox from 7 to 4pm, into the national time slot. Doing the math in my head, we'd need a rain delay or a skipped rotation slot to get him to pitch that day. I'm not a betting man, but I'd wager my 401k that he will somehow magically end up pitching that day.

I already have tickets, woohoo! It's actually Ryan Zimmerman bobblehead night. Get on that shit, Bregor.

Minus Gallardo they have no reliable pitching, anywhere. I also like how the NL leader in home runs batted 7th tonight. Macha needs to stop fucking with the lineup every day.

Speaking of leaders in HR's. Who would have expected half the guys in the top 5 or top 10 in most offensive categories? Last I checked no one in the NL had more than 45 or 50 RBI's, or 15 HR's and some names you wouldn't expect leading in average.

Seems like the NL is dominating the pitching and AL has the better offensive numbers so far.
