Considering this is Cox's last year and possibly Chippers, if he doesn't rebound, i really hope they don't send Heyward down. Normally for good line drive hitters like Heyward, i think major league pitching would be easier for him. They're more consistent, have better control and everyone has a chart on them. The fact that he doesn't try and hit homeruns is a huge plus. They go 450ft anyways.

I don't think there is anyway our offense is as bad last year, we had no power or speed, and Chipper had a bad year, especially by his standards. I think being Bobby's last year they will let him have Heyward the entire year, I think it's pretty obvious he is good enough to contribute right away - the only reason to keep him in AAA for two months would be to hold off arbitration.

It might be blind hope but I think we have enough arms that I am sure somebody will step to up to replace Vazquez.

    That sucks about Joe Nathan...

Strassburg retires the side in his spring debut on 7 pitches. Last one was 98 on the gun. Gave up two weak singles in the second but escaped unharmed on a 2 out, 3-2 81mph curve ball. Sup bitches?

Final line: 27 pitches, 15 for strikes, 2 singles, no walks and 2 K's (one was Miguel Cabrera) in 2IP. Not bad for his first time out. He is, indeed, our Lord and Saviour.

Not to throw cold water on you but... it's spring training

Most starters won't even throw a breaking ball for another week or so and are just building up arm strength. If he's throwing gas and breaking balls already, my first question would be why is he going all out when there's still a month before the season even starts.

But anyway, good for him. I look forward to him shutting out the Mets over 8 innings!

I just read an article talking about how Heyward slipped from being the first pick, to the 14th pick in the draft. It basically stated the scouts didn't think he was aggressive enough at the plate and was taking too many pitches. Apparently in his senior year, pitchers refused to pitch to him and just ended up basically pitching around him all the time, which hurt his numbers. Makes me giggle a little inside like we just stole something!

You have to understand, I fucking need this. Need this in the worst way possible. Those two innings were probably the best pitched for the Nats so far this year. Inexplicably, the staff has looked even worse than 2009. I know it's early, but this is Washington, where almost anything could have been viewed as progress.

Love BA, but he did seem lost doing the playoff games for other teams. He is the Brewers play by play guy on Fox Sports Wisconsin.

And when has taking too many pitches ever been a bad thing? Unless you are watching meatballs go right down the middle, taking a lot of pitches is a great skill.

If Strausberg pitches at all in the majors this year, I hope it's against the mets and that Luis Castillo takes him yard and crushes his soul.

Seems like DC would be a fantastic baseball town, can only see them getting better.

As much as i love my Braves, there's no denying that it's a horrible sports town. I'd kill for a Fenway or Wrigley Field type, every game's a sellout, atmosphere.

"horrible" is a little strong, but it obviously isn't anywhere close to Fenway or Wrigley. "horrible" also means I can show up on the day of a game whenever I feel like it and buy tickets for less than face value.

We couldn't sell out World Series games until David Justice bitched out the fans in an interview.

Aces. Got it running just in time to see Halladay deal. And the one commentator looks a bit like Snoop Dogg.

I can see why Halladay has had so much success in his career, his pitches have tons of movement on them. I'm getting the game on MLB Network here

Also I noticed that Heyward towered over Howard when he was on 1B. That guy is gonna be a beast for the Braves.
