Wow we actually took a game from the Yanks, I was not expecting that at all. My first Phillies game of the year is Friday and I get stuck with Fatass Joe as our starter. I barely even want to go now since we'll probably lose like 9-1.

Isn't Blanton another guy who has trouble during the Spring/Pre-All Star Break? I remember people bitching last year, then he turned it around in July-August, posting like a 3-4 game stretch where he went 7+ w/o giving up a run.

Who's starting for the Twins? Phillies are scheduled for Blanton on Friday, Hamels on Saturday, and Halladay on Sunday.

Edit: There's a report going around that the braves are holding a press conference for chipper jones today. Maybe decided on retirement?

Looks like Chipper doesn't know who leaked the news about him thinking about retirement, and won't address it til the end of the season so he won't be a big distraction. Easier said than done there, Chip. Maybe if you stop sucking, we will stop suggesting that you retire. D:

I don't know why he would even consider retirement during the year. There's no way the braves would commit to paying him the 28m that he is due this year or next anyway if he isn't playing.

I dunno if he really cares that much about all the cash. He's never really seemed unselfish, and I doubt he needs money. He said himself this offseason that if he knows he can't play, he doesn't want to continue playing.

That and with Infante in, I think the Braves are a better ball-club, honestly. :/

To be fair, Braves fans including yourself were all over Glaus earlier in the year and now he's been carrying their offense and team into first place. Don't underestimate Chipper, the guy lives for big moments and he's someone I'd want on my team in September during a pennant race.

Out side of that what the fuck year from two years ago, he's been on a steady decline his entire year. Glaus was a mistake by us fans because he was coming off of an injury, and then only had something like 16 at bats or someshit last year, so we jumped the gun. With Chipper, we've been on his case for a while (again, discounting that year a couple years back) for how injured he always is, and just the steady decline, starting severely last year.

With Chipper, we've been on his case for a while (again, discounting that year a couple years back) for how injured he always is, and just the steady decline, starting severely last year.

The Glaus criticism was warranted; we pretty much bet our whole season on an older slugger coming off of a season-long injury. I was patient at first but it took him a really long time to get going. He is raking now however and making Wren look smart.
