Bases loaded and 2 runs scored on a catching error after a slow roller to 3rd, then Santana misses the throw at home plate (who's usually their only bright spot on defense). Then they hit Blanton to reload the bases with no outs. Victorino pop flys to the foul territory and the outfielder trips and injures himself. Then Victorino gets called out on running out of the base line a few pitches later but a run scores. Chawlie gets ejected. Polanco singles, drives a run in and moves Blanton over to 3rd. Utley flys out to right, and Blanton doesn't tag up immediately....but does when Indians right fielder apparently loses track of the outs and doesn't throw the ball in. Was just a lot of sloppy play by the Indians basically.

We actually have a winning record in Interleague play now. I don't think that's happened, like, ever.

    Why, because they scored runs?
We got Hamels and Halladay coming up, we'll be back to scoring no runs then.

Well Hamels got run support but the bullpen had the terrible implosion for pretty much the first time this year.

God damnit tough loss for the mets tonight. Had the opportunity to secure first but lost tonight. Serious talk about the Mets making moves for Lee, and I'm not sure how I feel about that.

Without considering what they would be giving up, Lee's numbers have been INSANE.

Crank up the Cy Young campaign. Lee is dominating these days. He threw 115 pitches Wednesday, a whopping 90 for strikes. He ran his K:BB to 76:4 -- that's four walks in 86.2 innings, a 0.41 BB/9. It was his fourth complete game this season and the eighth time in 11 starts this year in which he has allowed two runs or fewer.
90 of 115 for strikes... 4 walks in 86.2 innings... fuck, I would want him.

There's no doubt he's been great for a shit team, but we'd have to make a package built around Ruben Tejada, who has been a great defense fillin for Castillo at second despite being a natural shortstop, including but not limited to Fernando Martinez who has not proven he can stay healthy. I don't mind giving up Martinez, but I'd be hesitant to give up Tejada considering how well he has filled in the fact that Murphy has had 2 knee injuries this year and is expected to fill our utility role.

I'm very excited to hear the Mets would not be willing to give up Mejia though, so that makes the trade talks more bearable. I'd be very concerned with the Castillo situation considering a bone bruise has caused him to miss over 15 games this year.

I've heard the opposite that they have no problem putting a package together that includes Mejia for Cliff Lee. The only ones they didn't want to trade are Ike Davis, Jon Niese, and Angel Pagan unless Beltran comes back quickly and seems to be healthy.

Two years ago, when the Mets agreed to trade for Johan Santana, they secured a 72-hour negotiating window with the ace.

The source also told Hale that the club would be unlikely to trade Jenrry Mejia, Jonathon Niese, or Ike Davis for Lee. Without those three in a deal, the Mets could offer the M's a package built around prospects such as Ruben Tejada, Fernando Martinez, Wilmer Flores, Jeurys Familia, and Josh Thole.

Meanwhile, several Mets officials said that the Mariners have not yet made Lee available, according to Andy Martino of the Daily News. The same officials say that there are no untouchables in the minor league system, though Angel Pagan is now "virtually untouchable" with Carlos Beltran's health so uncertain.
This was the latest I had read. Including a few articles in the post and the daily news that were along the same lines.

Its about damn time. I swear the Phillies wait way too long to move prospects up.

I also noticed they finally brought Scott Mathieson up for like 2 days then sent him back down. I know he got hit around a bit against the Twins but I was hoping they'd keep him around till Madson got back. I guess they want him to keep closing in Lehigh since he seems to be Lidge's eventual replacement.

Halladay vs the Jays tonight and I'm fully expecting to get shut out. Its also gonna be very odd to see them wearing road uni's, batting first, and sporting a DH in Philly.

Bah someone gave me last minute tickets to the Mets-twins game tonight but I have no one to go with and the traffic in NYC is absofuckinglutely ridiculous. It's like there's some giant giveaway and the whole world is in the city tonight.
