Two complete games in a row for Carl Pavano (18 IP, 1 ER). Both were against good pitchers, Halladay and Santana.

Johan Santana is tipping his pitches. Fucking great. The mets have no long man because they are carrying 3 catchers and the twins hung of a 4 spot in the first. Santana should not be pitching until they figure out what he is doing to tip his pitches. Third start in a fucking row god damnit.

Was it his changeup? It seems like they weren't swinging at it except for that one Delmon Young hit for a double, at least in the big first inning.

Thats how I feel, and you hit it right on the head. Its frustrating because when hes on, hes so fucking on, but lately he has obviously been the antithesis. His emotions affect him way too much, and I know he will eventually turn it around once he gets a decent start or 2 under his belt to build on. Few pitchers in the league have such an egregious disparity between their max and minimum performance as Burnett. At least hes doing it this team against a good team with capable hitters and not some AAAers like the Orioles.

He went through a similar streak last year, though this one is worse. Really can't get mad at him anymore, this is who is he is, this is who we knew we were getting, just have to ride the rollercoaster. I'm more frustrated that Chan Ho Park is still on this team, guy is downright bad.

And although Pavano basically stole money from the Yankees, his talent as a pitcher was never really in question, the Yankees weren't the only ones bidding for his services in 2003. When he has his good sinker he's incredibly tough to hit.

Yeah, in his press conference he blamed the fact that because he hasn't been mixing his pitches, that they aren't biting on the change. He's right, after he started to throw the slider for a different look he got guys to bit on the change.

Though when you get right down to it, unless he mixes his pitches better and becomes less predictable guys aren't going to swing and miss on the change. He needs another pitch, he has his slider and doesnt use it. .
