Pretty sure Cuban only wanted to get in on the Rangers so that he could finally create the TV/media network he has been dreaming about. You forget he made his money in media, selling off his company HDnet.

He wants to create a network like New York and Boston have for their sports teams, instead of Fox SW having the contract for the games. This is also why Murdoch/Foxsports were about to bid on the Rangers, to stop this from happening.

Cuban is only passionate about the Mavs, he had season tickets before he was the owner and he runs the Mavs as if hes a fan with a billion dollars (good and bad sides to this). He would of been a minority owner for the Rangers and probably would of kept out of the Baseball side of it.

They actually forbid fox to bid on the team I think just for that reason I was reading. They didn't want fox controlling the team, only to go so far as to control the media rights of the team. That would have been interesting lol.

He made his money selling an internet company to yahoo for a few billion.

And I'm pretty sure he still owns HDnet, he hasn't sold it - I edited a documentary for them a few years back.

Cuban does still own HDNet. He added another channel to that "family" as well that shows only movies.
