Len (to Hendry): What do you think Lou's legacy will be with the Cubs?
*Jason Heyward homers off Randy Wells.*
Yeah, that pretty much sums it up.

Wtf @ 2 HR's for Infante.
My grandfather told me the exact same thing, that he wouldn't teach me any breaking pitches until I was older and had fully developed. I mean look at those kids in the little league world series. How many of those kids go on and have solid pitching careers, and they're 11yos throwing 70mph...
Did the Braves really need to go that hard on Piniella's last game?
I don't think coaching is on his mind at this point. :\
Two bombs by Heyward today.. 16-5. Farewell Sweet Lou.
Braves 1 & 2 hitters:
8 for 10, 4 hr's, 8 rbi's
The rookie of the year is having a pretty good day, 4 for 5 with a couple doubles.
You meant 4-5 with 2 homers? You know, Mr. Heyward?
I think if Heyward has a strong finish, he'll win, but i don't think he's in the lead right now.
Posey or Castro will win it. Hell Tyler Colvin is having a better season then Heyward.
He wasn't down there long enough because he was completely shitting on everyone. You'd have a point if he was plucked straight out the IFA market/High School, but he was a polished college product. They had him on pitch-counts and limited his innings, it just got to a point where the big leagues was his next step.
I understand the point, but it doesn't justify it. Just because he was good and healthy in college, that doesn't automatically translate into the majors as evident by this season. A full year of minor league seasoning to gauge his ability would of been the way to go. The Nats folded though to the pressure and hype surrounding the prospects. Obviously there are exceptions like Mike Leake, but he doesn't throw overly hard. Hard throwers always run the risk of getting hurt more often and more seriously.
You don't need hype to win titles. (I wont hold my breath on this one)
If you follow everything by stats, then if everyone is healthy and consistent then Gaby would more than likely end up winning the title.
(Even if Castro hits .316, he still wouldn't be able to keep up with Sanchez/Heyward/Colvin and the others because of plate appearances)
Castro, really? That .300+ average of his is empty.
No, Tyler Colvin is not having a better season than Heyward. Neither is Mike Stanton.
Posey has been knocking the cover off of the ball but not playing the first half of the season will probably hurt him.
Gaby Sanchez's numbers compare favorably to Heyward's, but a lack of hype will hurt him. He doesn't play very good defense at first though, does he?
The main things going for Heyward are his importance to our lineup and all of the clutch hits.
Gaby is a good fit at first. The only reason why his defense would look like a blemish is because of Cantu's 20+ errors. He's a solid hitter, and he can make great plays off the bag when needed.
I won't say Heyward isn't great, you can't hold the same standard for rookies. Whoever finishes the strongest should win it.
Edit: Stanton had a slow start when he was called up in June. But he's still one of the rookies to watch towards the end.
