Statistically, going by WAR, which then will value playing time (Problem ofcourse is defensive stats have a longggg way to go, so include the three main ones [tz, uzr, and plus/minus]):
UZR/+/-/TZ
Posey: 3.0/3.1/2.5
Heyward: 2.6/3.4/2.9
Sanchez: 2.3/2.3/1.8
Stanton: 1.9/2.1/2.1
Castro: 1.9/2.4/0.6
Colvin: 1.5/1.5/0.9
Plain and simple, playing time means a lot. Who cares about HR and RBI? This isn't the 1900's, we're in the 2000's. On top of playing time, Heyward is a great defender, and Posey's positional value at being C is huge.
If Stanton can continue his ~.950 OPS since July, and heyward stays static and posey's BABIP drops, he could catch up to them. But he's only one out of the group behind those two who could catch up really.
If season ended today I'd probably give it to posey but I think his offensive numbers are gonna regress and I expect it to be Heywards. If there's a tie in production, it likely goes to him because of hype, and then the "playoff team/ect" crap that shouldn't be part of an award like this.
