Well if we play the Reds, that'll carry us to the NLCS, so more.

AAA stats don't mean everything, but when a team has 4 legit top-50 prospects and their pitching staff ranks 1st in the international league, you can kinda assume they have some good arms down there. I don't know why you brought up Coco Crisp, but he's a career better-than-average major leaguer. If you can get a bunch of average MLB pitchers all from your organization, on the cheap and under team control... that's how you start building championship teams.

Ugh. That really, really sucks. Ah well. Still had a decent year considering Jurrjens sucked cock all year, and our first base production outside of one month was putrid.

No shit. Why he's not out there and we've got the McLouth/Melky/Heyward rotation is beyond me. Hinske should at least be out there for Melkman.

Also major ouch for Cameron Maybin D:

Oh how I love Baseball Tonight. Question posed: Who wins Cy Young.. CC, Price, or Felix. All three (that Blue Jays GM that's not a GM anymore, Kruk, and lolValentine) said CC. Tougher division was the argument by Riccardi(sp). Now I know that it's tougher competition, but last I checked.. it's based on a pitcher's numbers, not who it's against. Also I guess having 21 wins means CC's an auto-lock even though that's bullshit. :/

The same people who said CC lost the Cy when he threw up a stinker against Tampa are giving it to him again after tonight. Totally stupid and completely "what have you done for me lately" nonsense.

David Price pretty much nullifies their "tougher division" argument since he has slightly better numbers than CC iirc.

True, it's a shame Tyler Clippard couldn't keep up his hot start or he would be a lock.

I take it none of them mentioned that CC never had to face the best run-scoring team in baseball (the Yankees), while having three starts against the team the team that is going to score fewer runs than any AL team in the DH era? He also had 6 starts against the second lowest scoring team in the AL. Did they mention that Felix had to face the Yankees three times while not pitching at all against the Mariners? The Mariners scored an average of 2.1 runs fewer per game than the Yankees, that means in 3 starts, a SP would give up an average of ~6 more runs by pitching against the Yankees instead of the Mariners. Take those expected six runs off of Felix and add them to CC, Felix ends up with an ERA of 2.06 and CC with an ERA of 3.42. I realize that's not a perfect argument, but crimony.

My stat geek just took over, and I just added up all of CC's opponents and all of Felix's opponents average wins and average runs scored (prior to tonight).

CC has started 33 games. Combined to date, the 33 teams CC has faced have won an average of 76.4 games and scored an average of 675 runs.
Felix has started 33 games. Combined to date, the 33 teams Felix has faced have won an average of 80.2 games and scored an average of 705 runs.

Statistically, Felix has faced a decidely tougher schedule than CC.

Price has started 30 games. Combined to date, the 30 teams Price has faced have an average of 80.9 games and scored an average of 721 runs.

So Price has faced a tougher schedule than either one, although close to Felix.

Yeah, and the fact that most Yankee fans I know are saying CC doesn't deserve it even over Price and King Felix is just lulz worthy. "It's hard to argue against 21 wins"..

well I remember us all saying if Halladay had some offense, he'd be 20+ wins easy. Well look at that. He's got 21 wins and dominated the NL with a pretty damned good (albeit streaky) offense backing him. Give King Felix an offense that won't be the LOWEST SCORING OFFENSE IN YEARS and we'll see where he's at.

He went 19-5 last year with the Mariners. They still scored the least amount of runs in the AL, but it was 640 instead of 517ish. Imagine if he were a Yankee. I think 25 wins would be easily achievable.

On the plus side, he did pick up a W tonight, so there's no way he finishes with a losing record. .500 is doable, but he won't do worse than 13-13. A win Sunday puts him within one win of Greinke's total last year.

Wish I could go, but worst day for them to do it on. Doesn't help St. Pete is a nice drive from me.

Now if the stadium was in Tampa where it should be...
