That was a horrendously awful play. If he's a fraction of a second slower or if the turn is a fraction of a second slower he just cost his team a playoff game and probably the series. Get the sure out at home.
Seriously, he got amazingly lucky. That was a terrible decision.
He had more than enough time to take a step and throw it to McCann, a sure-handed catcher. If he's so bad at throwing why is it a better choice to try a play that requires a stronger throw and better accuracy![]()
The play to second seemed easier to me. You didn't have anyone blocking your line of vision, and that seems more like the right play mainly because it's done more maybe? I'm not sure what was going through his mind. Looked like in a replay when they showed the mound convo that he said if it's hit soft, he's going to second. I bet it's a closer play at home if he goes there than at second.. either way, nice to see us go through a game without an error, honestly.
I missed most of the game since I went to dinner and a movie, so I didn't see the play sandoval had a throwing error on, but that's twice now he's cost us a game with his defense. Luckily the last time he did that, the Giants got pissed off and unloaded on the next game, so hopefully a repeat.
I would be more pissed that he almost took out Posey.
I'm starting to get visions of 2003 again. A dominating game 1 win, a devastating game 2 loss at home, game 3.....game 4......and we're packing our bags back to home. By the way, the Giants are 0-5 all time in NLDS game 2's now. Combine that with our 0-4 record in game 3's and I don't feel comfortable at all. My emotions have taken such a huge swing from the 5th inning yesterday until now, it's incredible.
A huge plus is Hudson's been mediocre at best since the start of September, so there's that. Also, Atlanta's terrible against power-pitching Lefties, which Sanchez can be, so.. glimmer of hope.
Wagner is done with a strained oblique.
It's a good thing we have such a deep pen but it sucks if this is how his career ends.
Hopefully it'll inspire him to comeback. He's no where near done, he's just fed up the injuries and the baseball business though so no telling what he'll do next.
It's always been exciting to watch him pitch. When he made his return to Citifield that last year in a Mets uniform the place went absolutely crazy.
YEah.. who are the Braves bringing on? Jurrjens or Saito? and hopefully Kimbrel is closing?
Really hoping the Rays get good Garza and not "Carlos Zambrano" Garza. Want them to make this a series.
Or at least save themselves from complete and utter embarrassment.
Oh, wait ...
Did they Rays know they were allowed to score more than 1 run in a game?
This is normal. They have done shit like this all year.
Son of a mother fucking bitch.
Well Garza did all he could, can't win if you don't score runs. I was thinking the same thing about the Braves last night, here's hoping for more late game heroics.
PS. Longo looks terrible, gotta think it would be a different series if he was 100%.
