Money isn't everything. Rangers can't match the Yankees but they can still give him plenty - Rangers are primed with young talent, new ownership, and a new TV deal. Everything is looking up for them. Yankees have a bunch of old, overpaid guys. It's really starting to show this year.

Wow, classic Yankee-hater narrative. The Rangers just traded away their best prospect and were in BANKRUPTCY earlier this year. The Yankees have a top 5 farm system, endless supply of resources, the best ownership group in baseball and a winning history. But yeah, who am I kidding? That has nothing on the Rangers TV deal you keep talking about and seeing Dubya in the stadium.
And yeah, bunch of old, overpaid guys who are in the ALCS this year after coming off a World Series. What a bunch of losers!

I think it's more overconfidence than anything that's destroying the Yanks. Those who watched them all year knew that there was serious questions about this team going into the playoffs. The Twins sweep was indeed a mirage and probably gave the Yankees a feeling of here-we-go-again. The superior play of the Rangers is crashing them down to earth.
Oh and another one two inning for the Yanks.

Overconfidence? Really? Give me a fucking break with this nonsense already. The Rangers have gotten some good pitching this series and some really fortunate BABIP luck on the offensive side combined with timely homers. Good for them, they're playing well. But what "serious issues" did the Yankees have? How is a 3 game sweep without home field a miracle? I mean, really.
I was going to make a similar post, but I knew Ceph would say everything I felt like saying, and probably say it better. The Yanks just picked a bad time to have a slump. If they played them 50 times in a row the yanks would win 30-35 easily. Possibly more if they were really on a roll like they do go on from time to time. I mean christ they won 95 games in the AL east and if they weren't resting guys the final 2 weeks probably would have nipped 99 or 100.
Okay, I suppose we just watched a different 162 games season.
It can be summed up simply as excellent first half, sluggish second half. The Yankees have simply been mediocre since the All Star Break.
Yanks got dominated by CJ Wilson.
Stick a fork in em.
So what's the point, exactly? It's a 162 game season. They won 95 games despite being under 500 after August 1st. Doesn't that tell you that were the best team in the league prior to that? They won 95 games, rested players down the stretch to prepare for the postseason, which was important because of their older (yet still effective) talent and key injuries to the rotation. They came back and blitzed the Twins, then ran into some rough games against Texas who pitched very well and who happen to also be a very good team. It has nothing to do with confidence, and if they were mediocre they wouldn't be here.
Saying the Yankees would win 30-35 games against Texas if matched up 50 times? uh... probably not.
That def hit him.
