Why does the second half have more weight than the first half? They count the same, last time I checked. I think you're overstating it a little bit. I can provide you with examples off the top of my head of teams who played like shit before the playoffs who ended up winning or getting to the world series. 2000 Yankees? 2006 Tigers? 2007 Angels?

And hell, both the 2010 Yankees and Rangers played pretty awfully down the stretch. One of them is making the series too.

Not bringing in Mariano yesterday made sense, because he's never pitched on 3 straight days ever in his career. Being that they have a day off thursday, I would have thought that they would have used him for sure tonight.
