Congratz to the Giants, I remember bitching last year because Timmy was pitching on such a putrid offense team, happy for Timmy. Rays fans gotta love seeing Pat Burrel win a ring, lol.
I didn't even click the link to the article, I just read the word "clutch" and sighed to myself.
Every other post on this page must use the word putrid now. The trend has been started.
I just threw up in my mouth... putrid
Also, regarding Mr. Lee: http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/rumors/p...urn=mlb-281813
Lee gave them hope last night when he invoked the "we" word: "Obviously, we're disappointed, but there's a lot to build on," he said, according to the Dallas Morning News. "We were the second-best team in the big leagues, and we should be proud of that. And we're going to use this as motivation to come in next year and try to do better."
He went on to say, "I like this team. It's a very fun team to play on. It was a very talented group of guys. I expect this team to do some really good things next year. I don't know if I'm going to be part of it or not, to be honest with you. I would love to be, but so many things could happen, you never know."
Don't tease me Lee...
They made the blockbuster deal to get the Japanese player, Tanaka I think he was. They made the World Series in the 2nd one I'm pretty sure. And I just went off the things you quoted which was the basis for said movie.
Well, what did you expect him to say? I'm sure he'd love to stay in Texas... if they pay him the money. Like I've said before, Lee for all his brilliance has made $24 million over his entire career so far. If I were him I wouldn't leave a dime on the table, but maybe that's just me.
Grats to the Giants and their fans! I so envy your pitching. I'm happy that Edgar ended up with the MVP.
God, I wish the Twins would start training good pitchers and give up on this 'pitch to contact' bullshit. I really want to rant about that, but whatever. We gave up the fewest walks!!!
Well what do ya know, the WS ratings last night were a 10.6 against MNF ratings of a 8.6. Color me shocked!
Yeah, the thing is though, I'm not sure how much money is there. Greenburg has mentioned on a couple different occasions that he has a "Cliff Lee fund", but hasn't shown his hand on how much that is. You would have to think that considering once the Lee deal was made, profits soared: he helped break attendance records, meaning more parking, concessions, merch, etc., there would be quite a bit available.
When the Rangers made the playoffs before, everyone kind of knew we didn't have much of a prayer, but when Lee got here we knew for once we had a shot and that drove people out to the Ballpark like never before.
Add on to that the ridiculous amount of merchandise sold over the playoffs (even local stores couldn't keep Ranger gear on the shelves), you would have to think Greenburg and Ryan could justify loosing their wallets a bit more from an investment standpoint.
I'm hoping we can stay within $5 million of the Yanks. Considering there is no state tax and it is cheaper to live here, that might be enough of a discount for Lee to consider taking.
Well, Liriano is an excellent pitcher and Pavano, bless his soul, pitched just well enough to lose against the Yankees in both of the last two postseasons. It's the Bakers, Blackburns, and Deunsings of the world you need to trade for some guys who can miss bats. Oh and put Morneau in bubble wrap so he can be healthy for a playoff run one of these years.
Are any other prominent Rangers due for a new contract?
