He'll be fine. CC looked worse at this time last year and he ended up being a stud. Plus, he's a 4th starter. On the Yankees, all you need to do is keep your team in the game and give innings. He'll do that. He didn't even pitch that bad today..

Sucks for the Yanks too, they should have traded Melky and Hughes to the Twins when they had the chance for Santana.
Retarded, even if it was just those two (it wasn't). Trade Hughes for a pitcher I then have to pay 150 million dollars? Stupid.

So far.. it's gonna depend on how the prospects do because no matter how shitty Vazquez has been, Melky's been worse.
I never expected him to be pow wow lights out, but I also didn't expect him to be giving up 14 runs in his first two starts combined lol

Good luck with Melky though, you'll need it

Soriano getting cheered as Pinela took him out of the game lol. Cubbie fans are harsh. They were booing him on Monday too, even though he had a couple hits.

It's not the player, it's the contract. He's a decent enough left fielder at this stage of his career, but we're looking at having this guy through 2014 and paying him $90 million. As much as I like Hendry, this is one of the worst contracts in baseball.

I don't think that's a good enough excuse to boo him every time he gets out, or he can't catch an uncatchable ball.

Good to know the Brewers can't handle leads going into the last innings. Hawkins gave up four in the 8th.

Let's see, you're the Yankees with an endless supply of money and nothing holding you back from spending it and you're bitching over a 150 million salary? The Yankees infield alone is making more than the entire salary of half the teams in the league. The fact that you're trying to compare Vazquez and Hughes in your rotation vs. Santana is the retarded argument. Money for the Yankees means nothing, don't try to base your entire argument around it.

Hughes is a good pitcher, will probably be a great pitcher, but if you're trying to convince me that Hughes will be as good as Santana I'll happily wait until both are done with their careers. We can compare then.

What does Sabathia have to do with Santana? If you're telling me that the money intended for Santana is what you used to sign Sabathia then that's a terrible argument.

Even more the reason why you do that trade 2 years ago. You're right though, I remember the trade being Melky, Hughes, and some AA or A talent going to the Twins for Santana. Of course there was no way of knowing what will happen to any of the three players back then or in the future, but I know that 2008 would have been a much different year had either the Yankees or the Red Sox pulled off that trade.

And if they signed both you'd be the first one bitching that the Yankees spend too much money. Classic moronic Red Sox fan logic. THE YANKEES SIGN EVERYONE ANYWAY LOLZ WHO CARES ABOUT TRADES WHEN YOUR PAYROLL IS 800 GAZILLION DOLLARZ!!!!one!!

Incase you haven't noticed, Santana's fastball velocity is way down and he hasn't looked like himself consistently, even going back to last year. Hughes may not turn out to be anything, but I'll take that chance. Admit it or not, the money they didn't use on Santana was used for CC, who last year proved what a horse he is. If you think the Yankees have no spending limit, you are a moron and letting Red Sox bias influence you, or something.

And just to remind you, the proposed deal wasn't just for Hughes and Melky. Kennedy (who they have since traded to get Granderson!) and Cano or Wang were rumored to be the asking price.

You can split hairs and say you weren't bitching, but the whole tone of your post was negativity toward the Evil Empire and their payroll, while you root for Evil Empire v2.

Uh... well not to get in the way here as I don't really care about the Sox or Yankees.. but Santana's fastball velocity wasn't down at the time of him leaving the Twins to go to the Mets, right? I mean he looked pretty dam good when he first got to the Mets.. just had no run support.

Just saying why I prefer CC to Santana, considering we were never going to get both no matter how delusional certain Red Sox fans are >_>

Santana was never a true power pitcher. So what his velocity is is irrelevant when arguing his value. The issues with his change is why he's been inconsistent at times, but nobody is perfect, not even CC. I'd be worried about CC's size going into his early to mid 30s, guys typically that big don't always stay healthy. I'd argue Santana is a surer bet to stay more productive later in his career barring any more arm/shoulder injuries because he's developed as a location pitcher instead of the power pitcher CC is.

Well in terms of size.. look at David Wells, lol. He did pretty good over his career and he was a fat, beer drinking slob.

Good point lol. But I'd still argue that's not the norm. With the way CC throws he's eventually gonna have knee issues if he doesn't lose a few pounds. Although, it's not likely he'll opt out of his contract so at this point it doesn't matter. He's still gonna get paid even if his knees give out lol.
